There was a period between 2014-2020 when I used to pray for Joe Root's failure in every test and Odi. I used to be very jealous each time he scored a 50 or a century as a huge fan of Virat because till 2020, Virat was a competitor of Root in tests (much ahead in Odis though) but since 2021, that jealousy has almost totally gone because Root reached a different level whereas Virat went as low as possible in tests after 2019. Root never went through a long bad patch in tests is because he is not dependent on one particular shot whereas Virat has always had a huge weakness outside off stump, his lust for cover drives has destroyed his test career.

Williamson has been fantastic in last few years but almost 70% of his great numbers are because of big runs in New Zealand whereas Virat who was very good from 2013 till 2019(not as consistent as Root and Smith even then) just performed really poorly from 2020-2022 then had a wonderful 2023 and has played no tests in 2024.

Root had made his debut in Dec 2012..and by 2024 end... He'll be having atleast 12,500 runs.. ATLEAST.. which means in 12 years of his intnl career he would have scored 12500 runs minimum..
