I just want to thank Bill . It is an absolute honor to listen to his motivation and positive advice on creating a wonderful piece of art . I took it , created something I had never done before and put it in a contest . I did not win the contest and told them to throw the painting away . Well they didn’t listen to me and on Sept 13th 2024 I received an email stating they sold my painting ! It made me feel real good that someone wanted something that I created . Even though he’s no longer here his gift still lives and helps us bring our creativeness to life ❤

@@dotconnector9708 I am the first wife of Bob Ross.. Vicky Ross .. Bob Ross started painting in Anchorage, Alaska while we were Stationed at Elmendorf , AFB.. he took a few instructions from Artist friend of ours. we were also stationed at Eilson , AFB, Fairbanks, Alaska our second tour in Alaska, which is where Bob and I invented the "Gold Pan" painting.. Bob had never met Bill Alexander or ever heard of Bill.. Bob painted Alaska scenery only, Bob had alway's wanted to be an artist, I remember the first painting's, he painted 3 - 5x7 paintings on velvet - they were good, except the mountains.. it took Bob some time to perfect the mountains , I kept encouraging him that it only takes practice .. and he finally got it .. To end this story concerning Bob taking away anything of William Alexander is not true.. Bob met Bill after he retired ( 20) year's of Military Service . He then met Bill and loved and admired Bill Alexander as a good Artist and friend, Bob worked for Bill, but not as an Artist, I believe he promoted Bill's art supply's.. Bill did give Bob some of his art tips.. I viewed the PBS Show - showing Bill Alexander and Bob Ross together.. as Bill praised Bob as a Good Artist - BILL then said: SO.. I HAND THIS ALMIGHTY BRUSH OVER TO BOB ROSS - MY FRIEND...

Holy moly, I never really knew it, till now, that Bob Ross not only adopted Alexander's painting technique but also his teacher's phrases like "happy little cloud", not to mention the business model. He effectively put Bill Alexander out of business - both men were selling art stuff like paints. Gee, no wonder Alexander had hard feelings... I'm digging into Ross' story which certainly begins to be more complex than I originally thought.

@@AAlexanderArt Thank you for your immediate response! As for their relationship - is it true that Bill said Bob Ross "betrayed him"? I realize Wikipedia is totally unreliable source but in the article dedicated to Ross there's such a thing written. Did the two got along somehow or were there animosity between them? I'm trying to picture Bob Ross as a person to myself in the wake of his still raising yet posthumous popularity.

@@dehypnotizer it is actually true that Bob Ross betrayed Bill. Once he decided to leave our company and go out on his own, he never talked to Bill again. Bill taught Bob what Bob knew, took him under his wing and started Bob on tv and Bob walked away from him. That sounds like betrayal to us.

Bob Ross would have put his mountain and a happy tree right through the middle of that sun lit cloud.

After extensively watching both Bill Alexander and Bob Ross, l have come to the conclusion that the major difference between the two is that Bill drank way more coffee than Bob 😂
