Now THIS is the Aaliyah voice I loved! Some performances I don't care too much for her deep tone but in this particular performance she killed it! We miss your music baby girl.💕✨

Her falsetto tones slays big time :D she didn't have to scream in her music to be so good she sounded perfect the way she was. If this industry was full of high note singers I'd drive myself insane. Good to see we have female artists like Aaliyah and Toni Braxton who got the soft falsetto tone.

The attitude, man!!!! So much attitude!!! She could back it up, cuz she had the talent!! Awesome, awesome singer and dancer!! I miss her greatly. Not even Beyoncé comes close. It's like she's trying. Aaliyah was all natural!! The way she talks to the audience and then lets out a "yeah!" when she's pleased! Bey stages that. I don't buy it!!
@BazzyRae12 жыл бұрын
I love how she softens her voice up for the album and live she's a beast and those angellic falsettos of hers are just beautiful. I love this era where females could dress with big clothes and show a lil stomach and be sexy, now every black female is selling sex to sell records it seems, leaving little to the imagination in leotards and that isn't even the bad part b/c every female likes to dress sexy like that sometimes (I do) BUT - the bad part is they never switch it up

@Talkin2Me400015 жыл бұрын
Yeah thats all her hair! And she didn't prefer to sing that low, its just harder to sing on the exact same pitch as the song when she's moving and dancing around. So she sings it lower and she hits her falsetto (high notes) when the time comes 4 them.

Yall have to understand that Aaliyah was a soprano. For those of you who don't know music, that's the high female voice. Almost all of her songs were written down in the tenor/baritone range (male voice parts) I'm a bass (The lowest voice part) and I find it quite hysterical when the sopranos attempt to sing as low as me because they sound horrible. That was kind of Aaliyah's case. It's not easy for girls with natural high voices to sing low notes ESPECIALLY throughout a whole song, but Aaliyah sounded better than a lot of girls because she was a good VOCALIST and she danced and sang at the same time. Having a good voice and being a good vocalist are two complete different things. Aaliyah was both, in my opinion. Just go listen to her live performances of The one I gave my heart to or At your best. She could actually sing, but a lot of people like to make fun of her because she's dead and that's really petty.
@sdjklsdjksdjklf7 жыл бұрын
Franky Eldevarez None of these people have even seen her live lmao You can't judge vocality based off a KZbin video.
@JimirDavisVEVO7 жыл бұрын
Aaliyah's range was out of this world. She always commanded her low notes effortlessly, what are you trying to say?
@dadrienedavis7 жыл бұрын
Because people try to say she flat out could not sing just because of how she sounds on songs like this one, where she's singing in a lower register. Her voice may not have been the best while singing that low but compared to other females who tried to sing that low ESPECIALLY throughout a whole song , she was excellent.
@cortezmiller18996 жыл бұрын
Franky Eldevarez Tenor and baritone are men registers. You meant to say contralto or alto for women.

GOD I WISH I COULD SING LIKE THAT! LOW TO HIGH!!! WITH EFFORTLESSNESS!!!
@hollycarlson29869 жыл бұрын
@ Frankly Um no. Aaliyahs' song were not written in the vocal range of a tenor. Missy, Timberland, and Static knew her voice. Aaliyah always had an incredible deep solid range that warm, smooth, and dark. It's not Toni Braxton deep but it was still there. If anything her songs such as What If, I can be, extra smooth, and man under were written in a alto range which is the lowest in a female however of course still higher than a male tenor. Aaliyah doesn't get enough credit for her low range. It's like if you aren't constantly belting and over singing people don't think you are a good singer.
@sdjklsdjksdjklf7 жыл бұрын
Holly Carlson Agreed. The people who are saying she can't sing simply do not understand singing.
@cortezmiller18996 жыл бұрын
Aaliyah isnt a alto ok. Shes a soprano.

@GAMEBOIMARCUS14 жыл бұрын
People said she couldn't sing? I never heard that, but I can see why, it was the 90's and back then, you had to SING in RNB, BUT! those singers didn't dance LIVE at all, Aaliyah did and sang LIVE, now, let's compare to other dancers/singers like Janet(no shade), Britney and Ciara, yes they dance, but either don't sing LIVE or just yell, Aaliyah did it both, M Carry, Brady,Monica and Houston SANG, but couldn't dance to save their lives. This is why we all love Aaliyah so much, she USED her mic.

Aaliyah was great...With that being said, I don't see why most people find it necessary to compare artists and put one down in order to compliment another (i.e. the Rihanna and Beyonce comments). I was a huge Aaliyah fan back in the day...and yep she had a swag like no other, I'm watching this video and remembering when I saw it years ago when it hit airwaves. I never could admit it back then but I had a huge crush on Aaliyah before I knew anything about being gay Lol
@lockedbarber13 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I wish she liyah would have stepped more out of that falsetto. She had a very powerful alto mezzo-soprano lower register. The falsetto sounded sweet but its the reason why people thought and still think to this day that she was a weak singer. SHE SHOULDVE HAD MORE POWERFUL ballads. I guess the producers wanted to give her a unique sound and really paid on that term "street but sweet". There were other artists emerging when she did and her producers wanted to make her unique.
