To think that Kerry Livgren (who wrote it - it started as a exercise so he could learn fingerpicking) didn't want to play it for Kansas because he wasn't sure they would even want to do this type of song. After he played it for the other members of Kansas, they sat in silence and asked, "Kerry, where has this been?"

This is actually a heavy song lyrically, it’s about how so many things we wrap our lives up with don’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things. The line that’s so powerful to me is all your money won’t another minute buy.

Great reaction Aaliyah! The members of Kansas, like many bands in the 70's and 80's, were so talented. Many could play more than one instrument and many were good vocalists as well as instrumentalists. Most of their careers were spent performing live on tours and at events. An era when talent, not technology, reigned supreme!

"Point of No Return" from their iconic Point of Know Return album. Fantastic story and well composed Song and more incredible singing. So good. It was a huge hit. "He Knew" is a great little banger, another hit, and it's about Leonardo da Vinci of all things!

This song began as a fingerpicking exercise, Kerry Livgren (Blonde Guitarist) wanted to work on that particular technique so he came up with this melody. His wife heard him playing it and suggested he make a song out of it. So, what started out as a fingerpicking exercise became their biggest hit, Kerry Livgren was incredibly prolific in the 70s, he's an amazing songwriter. Great reaction!

Back in the day when they were touring this album, for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks (Colorado/God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. 600 miles round trip with roughly $1.00 gas🤩🤩 I've seen them since then with the new band members in Reno (former Harrah's outdoor venue) Still killin' it. I still have this LP./Album. Carry on Wayward Sun. Point of Know Return. "All your money won't another minute buy".

Aaliya, given that you mentioned that you like modern music with classical elements you might check out the group Renaissance. They are a British progrock band from the 1970s with American lead singer Annie Haslam who had a crystal clear five-octave voice. They combined elements of classical, rock, folk, and jazz influences. Three of my favorite Renaissance songs include Ashes Are Burning, Mother Russia, and Carpet of the Sun

The band Shooting Star from Kansas City also features a violinist. My favorite song is “Flesh and Blood”. Their song, “Last Chance”, from their 1980 debut album shot to #1 in the United States in radio play but due to infighting between their record company Virgin and their distribution Atlantic Records, they had ZERO records in the stores! They got totally screwed by their record company! Links below. These are EPIC songs! You will not be disappointed.
