Ujjain/Avanti is the place of Mahakaleshwar. In ancient India, before the Brits came, the longitude across the temple was India's GMT. Kaal (Time) starts from there, that's why Mahakaleshwar. There is also a Kark Rajeshwar temple in Ujjain. Kark/Karkatak means Cancer🦀. The tropic of Cancer (or Karkatak Vritth) passes through this temple. That's the kind of understanding that ancient Indians had!
