I think the picturization also played a big role in the differences between the songs. The original Shreya Ghoshal version was picturized on Vidya Balan doing a classical dance in a frenzy state. I suppose this is why shreya ghoshal took a very very classical approach, especially with the beautiful murkhis and ornamentations as well as the sargam part. Arijit's sargam wouldn't have worked for the original picturization and the original male singer's approach a d voice texture really helped to give that specific classical touch. But importantly, the song was meant to be pictured on a schizophrenic classical dancer, hence why Shreya started or ended some lines rather abrubtly (especially as you mentioned the "saason me saason me teri sargame hai" part). It's fascinating how one composition can take so may flavors. Absolutely beautiful!

I heard the review because you have made it and I know how good a musician you yourself are. Most of the reviews only starts comparing the two versions created 15 years apart. But I have expected that you will comment something about the vulnerability of a composer at 2007 creating a classical song for a commercial movie because now the song becoming an epic one, it is more comfortable to modify and add some quality sargam s in the song. Both the singers are legends and all should listen both with your inputs about the changes to learn about background film music rendition.
