Q1 - Why is 'Leaves from the vine' sadder than Aang's discovery of the air nomads' fate, according to a 2022Jun poll? (In-universe reasons only.) They don't even use the g word to describe what happened to the air nomads. Cowards. Q2 'Leaves from the vines' is about a war criminal crying over another war criminal. How's it sad BEFORE Iroh fully defects? But even after Iroh defects, I don't see how it's sadder than Aang's reaction to air nomads. Or maybe the writing was bad because it's a kids' show which doesn't really dwell much on the g word. Idk. Notes: 1 Change 'war criminal' to 'unjust war aggressor' if need be. 2 Imagine you had relatives who met fates similar to the air nomads', but people were crying over leaves from the vine. Eg Uyghur, Cambodia, Rohingya, et al. More info: - p1w4Rr-XW

Zuko is Israel, while Sokka is Hamas. ATLA netflix S01E01 - I noticed something: - Zuko is like Israel because Zuko accepts a 1v1 fight to reduce civilian casualties. - But Sokka like Hamas / Palestine is a war criminal (just like in the original with the false flag on the hot air balloon) by using children as soldiers and human shields by putting them in the front lines namely at the gates of the southern water tribe. Lol. What do you think? More info: - p1w4Rr-XW

I loved the addition of this scene. So emotional. Gyatso telling Aang that him being there wouldn’t change anything is such a powerful scene. The live action changed many things I didn’t like but this is one of the ones I loved.
@TANMAN843 ай бұрын
I liked it. Very emotional. But does this fit the story? What is so tragic about Aang is he never got closure. His whole race of people were just completely massacred literally a century ago, yet Aang feels responsible. He has to get over it. That feels more realistic. Solving this conflict by just letting Aang talk to Gyatso I feel like completely removes that void Aang has that is pushing him forward. It's sorta makes his character weaker emotionally because he doesn't get over it himself

@samalvey81683 ай бұрын
It's good that Gyatso told Aang that it wasn't his fault, because that is true. I'm tired of heroes in media getting blamed for things they realistically couldn't have done anything about. Aang was a mere child who'd just learned he was the Avatar; as horrifically sad and evil that the genocide was, Aang surviving it the way he did ulitmately allowed both the Avatar Spirit and the Air Nomads to survive down the line. Had he stayed, he would have died with his people (rendering the Air Nomads totally extinct with no hope of restoration) and quite possibly in the Avatar State, which would break the cycle and mean no more Avatars ever.
@vietcuongnguyenle85303 ай бұрын
The air normal not totally extinct , still have people escape outside to born the descendant But since the culture about airbender no longer exist Descendant of the survival can’t awaken the bending abilty to using it anymore
@PuccaLover153 ай бұрын
I 100% agree! People keep blaming him for the war because he ran away like a coward and didn’t fight back “when they needed him the most”. Aang is a child! The Avatar isn’t revealed until they turn 16, when they’re a bit more mature, but Aang is 12. He only learned about this a few hours before the invasion and found out he was going to be sent away from his mentor/guardian/friend to start learning the other bendings. Being told he has to save the world is a lot of pressure on a kid, of course he’s going to be scared! He didn’t even run away. He was just going out to clear his head for a bit and was going to return home as soon as he saw how bad the storm was. The iceberg was an accident. Someone finally telling him that none of this is his fault, that he wouldn’t have survived if he had stayed with them really helped him I think. It was something he needed to hear because it was true. Yeah, he’s a powerful air bender, but so were the other masters and they fell.

Gyatso likely knew this would be the last time he spoke to Aang before moving on. You could see it in his face after Aang said that he would be back. Telling Aang that what happened to him and the others wasn't Aang's fault was likely the thing that Gyatso needed to inform Aang of. We all feel accountable for things we don't have control over. By realizing that we don't have control over the choices of others, we can let go of a lot of emotional baggage.

Aang having regrets about leaving and not getting closure with gyatso is just such a real feeling because weve all experienced stuff like that. And instead of him having to grow and realize that the war isn't actually his fault he just gets told it by someone aang wouldn't doubt. I dunno I just think its more impactful without a scene like this. Maybe if it got put in a later season like if they adapted a comic storyline but this just feels like fan service
