Film Kunwara Baap (1974) was released to popularise the message of Polio Vaccination for children. Comedian Mehmood was its hero and director.His son Maqdoom Ali was a polio stricken child.He acted as the child artist of this movie . It was music director Rajesh Roshan's debut movie. He was looking for a job as an assistant music director. One day,while he was just 19 years old, he visited Mehmood's office in his studio to seek job. Mehmood had known his late father,Music director Roshan who died in the year 1967. When Rajesh Roshan introduced himself, Mehmood handed over a Lullaby song (लॊरी) compiled by Majrooh Sultanpuri and explained its situation in the film.He asked him to compose its soundtrack on harmonium which was provided to Rajesh Roshan. The young Rajesh Roshan thought for a while and soon produced a wonderful composition. When he started singing it on harmonium,Mehmood's eyes welled up with tears ! He held Rajesh Roshan in a tight embrace and delivered him the cheque for signing amount as Music director ! Soon Kishore Kumar was invited by Mehmood to record this song.
