All of Jacob's friends at school must think he's a stud. But as Aaron said abuse is abuse. And at Jacob's age he doesn't view it as such. Just like the real life events after which this storyline is modeled, the abused 'kid' eventually started to understand exactly what happened to him and that probably explains why he and his wife/abuser of 20yrs+ are splitting up, at least last time I read any news about them.
