Aaron Donald wouldn't think of it unless every linemen on the team reached out and said they wanted him back. He wouldn't step in unless they all wanted him to, and even then he might not feel ready

Selfishly, I wish he would come back. But in a broader sense, we have never seen him at less than dominant. He was never Manning with nerve damage or Willie Mays. He will forever be the elite of the elite.

AD is different from other players who jump in and out of retirement. McVay knows him so well that when AD said he was done he was, being a principled man with high integrity. He has nothing else to prove. He has moved on to another phase of his life. If he were to come back it would be his call and it would be for a whole season. He would not take someone's roster spot who has played hard all season.

Aaron Donald situation differs from Eric Weddle's return to the Rams for their 2021 Super Bowl run. Weddle was able to return because he was not on the reserve/retired list, as his contract had expired. AD cannot return without clearing waivers. Good luck with that.

I think what McVay is getting at is that Donald is at peace with his decision to step away from the game and he did it on his terms. To put a guy in a situation where he’s pressured to return especially for someone else is kinda messed up and certainly potentially damaging to their relationship.

McVay talks just like Jay Gruden, I really think he had a bigger impact on McVay's and LeFleur's coaching styles than Shanahan ever had and he won't ever get the credit for it.

This is not me saying Micah Hyde had the same impact for the Bills as Donald had for the Rams but he did leave the door open. Once it seemed like the SB window he went back to the organization as a practice squad reserve just in case they need him to go in due to an injury but at the very least he can help coach the DBs. Maybe that’s something the Rams could do but, he already has a ring so who knows what he would say.

Not that he even can at this point, but why is this newsworthy or worth discussing? But I'll humor you, imagine being on that team and hearing this. Why would anyone in that locker room want a guy to come in now after you did all the hard work to make it to the post season. If they couldn't sign him for a minimum deal, they could withdraw and then the next team would step up and do the same. They could do this dance until the season is over.

He would’ve had to of come back already there is a deadline for players on retired reserve list their first yr of retirement when they’re under contract still in which case rams would have to release him and he would have to go through waivers and no way he falls through waivers to us lol

The Rams are set up right now to get to the NFC Title game. They will win their division. The Lions are on deaths door. They already beat the Vikings. The Bucs are tough. They can handle Washington. The only team in the way are the Eagles.
