Aaron always neglects to mention he worked was John Mueller's restaurant when he was trying to figure out BBQ... more to the story than just bought a smoker and threw a few parties. Texas Monthly interview "John Mueller of John Mueller Meat Co."

Thanks for the info, that was a good article. After reading it I came to the conclusion that he probably did not learn anything about cooking bbq from John because he was a drunken a**hole at the time and wouldn’ t teach or show anything about bbq with anyone! I am sure just working there enhanced his knowledge about running a restaurant (along with lessons learned at his parents joint) but despite his thirst for knowledge he probably didn’t learn fire management or cooking from John. Now he probably doesn’t talk about it to keep the focus off of a “feud” with Mueller’s. So from a business prospective, I agree with him not mentioning that job as influential in his journey. If you read the article, I think John understands his role & how Aaron became successful.
