Sweet truck. I had a 78 f-250 4x4 what a great truck it was. Bone stock 351m single exhaust t-18 4 speed 205 t-case 3.54 gears. Only thing I did I put a 4-in Skyjacker suspension lift posi rear end 38.5x14.50x16.5 super swampers. The truck was a silent Beast that could Cruise 75/80 mph down the highway and Conquer quite a bit off road for what it was.

I have an 350SD, 2008,6.4 model. Deleted 4x4 18s, 230,000 mi. I think it is one heck of a ride. Pull 27 ft travel trailer arount western states. Only major problem, 5 teeth off flex plate. Replaced flex plate, rear seal (not leaking), temp sensor in trans, Bilsteens f/r, rebilt front end, new steering box, complete A C system o/h, no def, no payments, $700 used canopy,used basket, painted my old gas cans yellow, homemade brackets for them and traction boards, two rifle cases on basket for misc, wishing I had diesel truck earlier on in my 80 y/o life. Other truck a 2015 k1500 (town truck), both trucks will last me the rest of my life. No 70,000 trucks, bought and paid for, super reliable, not beaters!

I agree with Aaron , around headlights are the best headlights . 77 is my favorite nose , might be biased since an early 77 highboy 4 speed is what I learned to drive back in the day . Wish I could find my dad’s old silver ford .

I have had a couple '73 to '79s great rigs. The one I have now is a '79 F 350 4x4 with a 4-53T Detroit Diesel with a 10 spd od road ranger still under construction. Did a few short bed conversions over the years for people, we shortened the beds from the front instead of cutting the middle of the bed. Sexy ride.

I really like how he used the OE fuel injection and kept a Ford in a Ford. Those are damn good engines, I managed a fleet of 100+ vans/trucks back in the early 2000's with 302/351's and some of those had 300k+ hard miles on them.

In Australia we prefer longer beds because you got more realistate in the back 🙂 people are chopping up landcuisers here and also paying big bucks to make them longer , its amazing how both countries are so different when it comes to 4x4's , yer tucked in and clean looks good looks like the factory did it 👍 in Australia tho its illegal to have wheels sticking outside the guards anyway you need them big after market flares to keep legal , it looks tuff on the streets but impractical out on them narrow bush tracks that want to rip everything off , Australian tracks are made from narrow landcuiser wheel tracks 😊 i guess in America your bush tracks are a lot wider made from big wide fords , chevs and that jeep thing , must admit its a cool looking pickup 👍👍

Meh needs a Cummins 12v under the hood! Cummins swap the world! I'd feel better with a dana 60 in the front. I get it you don't always 'need' a 60 in the front and a 44 will get the job done with some chromo shafts. With a Cummins 12v you'd be getting 25+ mpg and could tow a house on wheels. Would deff want a bigger trans with the 12v. Nv5600, that 6th gear is suuuure nice on my '02 24v HO 6 speed. My Herman, that's up on rampart range in colorwod springs right? I graduated High skool in woodland park co. Rampart range was our stomping grounds in high school, wheeling, and keg parties! Gunnison co is where I grew up. My mom still lives in woodland park, and my wife's mom is in conspiring still. The front range got to crowded and expanded to much. Had to go back over on the western slope! Cool build. I love those old ford, I've had many of them over the years. The coolest was my '79 bronco with a big block 460! Torque monster!

@paulstalder57088 сағат бұрын
Original short eds were shorter in the rear and front. Bed was not 6'-9" originally
@scubasteve79464 сағат бұрын
Nope. Chevy was like you said. But Fords always stayed the same behind the drive wheel and adjusted the length in front of the drive axle. Small correction for Aaron- he is mistaken. The steel super duty bed length is the same way, only shorter in the front of the bed. The back half is the same between long and short beds. Fords were 6'9" for decades on the short beds where other mfgs were 6'6" often

@augustusappling139Күн бұрын
i mean i dont care what anybody does but if you have the budget to lift it and put it on 37's the 4x4 long beds look good as long as they have some tire on them. Just saying bc its a lot of work and so many ppl just think they need to shorten it for it to look good and it's just not true.

it i think comes down to preference.
