Aaron has a great voice all his own! He doesn't have to sing like anyone else. I've been watching him since his Anchormen days! I have been able to notice his progress along the way. To me Gold City was when he first developed his current sound. He is at his best sound ever now! A very great singer! I'm a fan!

What a wonderful video. Aaron joined The Anchormen a year before I left the group. (I was the pianist). And I can tell you -- without reservation -- that traveling with Aaron every week was an absolute blast. In addition to being immensely talented, he was kind, funny and just a great guy to have as a friend. He was easily one of the "bright spots" of getting on the bus every week. Thanks for posting this. It's great to see him again and to hear how he's been. :)

Aaron mentioned that he wanted to be remembered by NOT sounding like everyone else. The first time I heard him sing with the Anchormen, I knew he didn't sound like anybody else ... and I've loved to listen to him sing ever since. Hopefully, I will be able to shake his hand one day.

He’s definitely an experience to listen to in person! I met him at the NQC in 2012 and again at the State Fair in 2016 with Dailey and Vincent. Got to spend an amount of time talking to him and got a couple pictures with him and the rest of the group as well. His hometown is only about 2 hours away from me

I love that you talked about the fact that the crowd doesn't know what's low and what's not. I sing bass in an acoustic choir and the low notes usually don't get much of a reaction but sometimes when I'm only singing like G2 which isn't low at all I get people telling me how low that was. I feel like they only listen to power and contrast.

Great interview Matt. I think Aaron is a great singer and I really appreciate just how candid he is in his responses. I wonder if you could approach Richard Sterban for an interview(?) Perhaps you guys could delve into the psychology of bass singing. (ie how to defeat “that little man in your head that says you can’t hit that low note...” Richard has also had to deal with ongoing sinus issues throughout his career.

Thanks for doing this! To me, Aaron has always seemed a bit more mysterious among the premier bass singers of modern times (i.e. he didn't really talk a lot or do interviews), and it's great to finally see more of his personal side with this interview! And now a long time question I had (which was, until I watched this, forgotten for a while now) has finally been answered: Why did Gold City never seem to do "God's Building a Church" when Aaron was with them? Never knew he couldn't access that G1 back then until I watched this. Great video!
