It's more fun to train with than greengas or co2. It also seems more simple, just get ammo and a gun. No finicking with gas and all the stuff that goes along with airsoft or BB. I also like going to the range. At some point I may get a BB blowback just to take shots while I watch TV. Most ranges will have the G44+ammo and will rent it out to try.

I have to say, I wasn't expecting too much as I've never had an airsoft gun, but Andy's reviews helped guide me to this gen 4. Having a 9mm gen 5, the weight and feel of this Umarex airgun is awesome, it actually feels heavier than the real thing! It's a little more balanced in the grip area due to the metal mag, but the perception of quality is awesome. The metal mag is genuinely nicer than the actual plastic Glock mags. The full blowback and features make it an awesome practice tool for when I can't go to a range or a rural backyard. I'm thoroughly impressed by the job Umarex did!

I saw on reddit that some people are having trouble with the screw cap going back on after inserting a CO2 canister, some have even completely stripped it trying to get it back on. You don't need force, the key is that it doesn't screw on flat, but at the angle of the mag, so the back will appear tilted down and the front will appear tilted up. Just use the wrench at the same angle as the mag and lightly spin it and it will grab.

Great review ,i actually purchased the m17 .177 pellet pistol based on one of your recent reviews and that in my opinion is the best co2 replica pistol on the market right now, back to the the gen4 glock ..accuracy is not great..but if you work with it you can get get results, but like you say its about "ownership" this thing is pretty dam near to the real thing in terms of feel and operation, if you are looking for more of a collectors piece then this is for you, great trigger that almost goes single action on reset , also the trigger will stay locked back if dry fired with no mag/empty mag (no c02)or locked back slide,the mags DO drop out when you press the mag release (not sure why you would release a mag side ways) . This gen4 model is a lot lot better than all the recently released umerex glocks including the pellet/bb version , that was a big disappointment as i really wanted the pellet version and i had both in hand ,also purchased the non blowback 19 and gen3 17..both sold on. if you want a good as realistic glock 17 gen 4(uk) then i don't think you will be disappointed ...but the sig m17 pellet..great pistol and very accurate.

Love my Umarex Glock 17 Gen 4 powered by green gas. I love it and almost feels like having a real one. It's so identical to my dad's real G17 Gen 4. Kids outside playing with springers and when I go out and play with it shooting cans, those kids goes crazy it's fun. I'm letting them try it too. @roadhog99745 жыл бұрын
I bought one of these on the day they came out in the UK (I'm a big Glock fan so have been waiting for this for a while). I think this is about as close as you can hope for to a real Glock 17 with current CO2 tech. It feels pretty nicely made and as Andy says does have a good weight to it, and the recoil is really nice for a CO2. Obviously not close to a real pistol, but again, probably as close as you'll get. The "flaws" with the gun are mainly down to the design of the original (ie the infamous safety), and generally you either buy into the Glock design or you dont. I'd also say mine shoots pretty damn accurately out of the box at around 7m - certainly not low. My one gripe is the price. Whilst it does feel well made, I wouldn't say it feels any better made than my Cyberguns P226, which was around £40 less! I'd also love to have seen something like the shell ejection system in the new Winchester rifle make its way into these, but I'm guessing that's a way off yet due to the limits of space etc in pistols. I think Andy is bang on the money. This gun is all about the realism. If you want a faithful replica, that's fun to shoot, and you like Glocks, you wont be dissapointed. Just wish it was a little bit cheaper!
@andyakarudolfhessiansack79365 жыл бұрын
Good points. I think we are paying for the deal Umarex made with glock. That branded glock name licensed out bumped the price up. Also they were due to be released with laser engraving, but fortunately they heeded the advice of gun fans and shipped the slides back to Germany after assembly for CNC engraving (thank god). Love mine, but have to disagree about it being the same quality as the p226 (which i also own). A lot better imo. Enjoy, cheers, Andy.

Just shot this G17 gen4 yesterday for the first time. Looks and feels good. Shoots okay - as all other BB pistols like this one. Shoots horizontally center - but waaaay low (as in this video). Not bad of a grouping though appears under the aimpoint. Used lots of co2. Only a bit over 60 shots - so probably 4 full mags totally.. The fit of the mag into the grip was nice and snug. Sweet that the follower is lockable down - although I do not really use that option myself while loading BBs. The follower spring is not too hard, but just perfect. The slide sits really well on the lower receiver. Love the way they have done the guide rod+spring, barrel and inner barrel setup. All parts easily removed. Those pin locked inner barrels have been annoying to take apart (as on the HK USP and Colt M45 CQBP for example).. Basically a decent BB replica pistol - even though shoots very low.

And around the inner barrel tip I put a slightly too large rubber o-ring. If shoots too high - then just do it again with less of inner barrel tip lift. But the original setup shot way too low and was just unforgivable.

Great review as usual, thanks! You've got to accept the safety catch for what it is though, Glocks were conceived from the very start as not having a manual safety, it's all part of the design and ownership of one. Bemoaning the design of the manual safety is like buying a Single Action Army revolver and not being happy about having to pull the hammer back for each shot, it's the way they were deisgned to be. Top marks to Umarex for at least incorporating a safety without making it visually obvious.

Its not bizarre that the takedown is like that - real pistols are field stripped like that. Infact the few flaws you mentioned all seemed to be related to realism (like the added safety not being conspicuously marked). Accuracy is a low priority to me with these replicas, the realism, feel and faithfulness to the original is what they're about. For accuracy and power I'd use a .22 air rifle. I think the Gen 4 looks like the best replica of the glock 17 yet and I hope to get one myself. I have the CO2 springfield XDM replica by air venturi and its very realistic, and I think this glock has been made with made similarly - with realism and faithfulness to the original as a priority.

Four inches low at 8-10 metres? Mine too. Field strip. Take out inner brass barrel assembly and turn the plastic, shouldered split collet back to front. This lets the rubber mounted barrel move within the outer barrel. Not a tack driver but will scare the bullseye of a paper target rather nicely. Very ammo sensitive. Brand new unused Umarex bb's only.

@Futurecop232 ай бұрын
Yes, indeed, the initial very low shooting performance is negative. However, after thorough lubrication and a few magazines throughput, it delivers an acceptable shooting performance. Unfortunately, the gun only comes sparsely lubricated from the factory, but a little Teflon grease on the slide guide and a few drops of Teflon oil in the trigger/release mechanism make everything run super smoothly. TIP: Oiling the action in combination with a few drops of silicone oil from the top of the magazine and from the outside on the valve tappet eliminates the low-firing behavior so often reported on the net. Due to the easier and better opening valve, the sufficient amount of Co2 comes from the capsule to the BB. As this model is supplied with an adjustable hop-up (surprisingly not mentioned in the instructions) and steel pellets are probably too smooth and heavy to be affected by the hop-up rubber, the Glock is even suitable for target shooting in conjunction with the ASG plastic BBs.

Glocks are amazing. They are not supposed to have a "safety". The safety of a Glock is based solely on the middle trigger safety, and the weight of the pull. I personally love the fact they tried to make the gun as true to real as possible. The Umarex 19 did have a extra safety by the way, its on the top area of the trigger (side to side safety), which blended in nicely.
@worldguy45282 жыл бұрын
Most definitely you know what ur talking about 💯 also glocks are a great gun for keeping one in the head if you know what you’re doing that is. However for the people who carry without it cocked, not cocking it can act as an extra safety. (For the people who aren’t sure) also wearing some tough material pants like jeans are great for being able to rack it with one hand you can use the sights to catch the slide

I have the exact same problem with accuracy shooting well low, now the fixed slide G19 I have is much more powerful much better on gas, and superbly accurate But the G17 is great to look at but that’s all.

I’ve never really been able to get into air guns I bought a umarex berreta m92 years ago and hardly really used it, i feels it lacks realism it looks great but you could never drill with it. A little dated now they have been out for decades. This glock however could genuinely be used as a training aid. You could put it next to a real 9mm glock on the range and the drills would mirror each other Going to trade in my gammo rifle and berreta and put it towards this! Pellet would be nicer as long as they ditch the cylinder magazines and maybe go for a belt fed like the Sig 226 pellet pistol and keep the gas and ammo in the mag together so all the bits that make it an airgun are still nicely hidden away in one removable place! Great review well spoken i’m sold
@williamflowers94355 жыл бұрын
Paul Adams That belt fed thing sucks as does the SIG rotary magazine. There is a click every time you pull the trigger halfway to index the pellet

Awsome channel Andy an excellent reviews, but when you've fired your last shot and the slide has locked to the rear, check theres no rounds left in the chamber, you then take the mag out first then let the slide go forward and fire off the action, not the other way round 👍

They should have made all the bb and pellet guns like this were they can do all the things that a airsoft and a real gun can do. I bet that there's a big market for bb guns like this
@southernexposure1233 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video and full review. I was thinking about getting this BB gun for serious daily target practice. I use a different BB gun regularly for target practice because it's trigger pull and general feel is a lot like my daily carry. I wanted a Glock replica mainly for the difference in trigger type. Your review helped me decide that this model Umarex is a decent replica. However I do need better accuracy to spend over a hundred bucks for another BB gun. Thanks again for the review.

I like the safety. Hear me out... Okay, it sucks as an operational safety, sure ... but as a "storage safety" that's also relatively child-safe, it's a winner. I also like that the co2 is in the mag and thus can be removed from the body and kept separate ... again, good for those with younger children around. I'd like to see more replicas with a proper thumb safety AND a hidden "storage safety" - one that's not nearly so obvious or easy to operate for little fingers or curious teens. For example, on THIS glock... a hidden switch inside the slide, requiring a 'strip' to ready the weapon again after making safe for storage. I have an HDR50... and it's completely the opposite story. No depressurising the handgun... no safety at all... it's a worry if you have kids about. Given that it's designed to be readily accessible for _'less-than-lethal'_ home defence, at least some thought should have been put into keeping it kid-friendly. Just my 2c _(as adjusted for inflation)_

I bought a Glock 17 gen 4 from Pellpax. The under barrel safety didn't work unless the slide was removed. When I called to get it sorted I was told that, although designed to do so, taking the slide off voided the warranty! Does this sound right to you?

@grayman14 жыл бұрын
I agree! I would rather prefer it that way though for more realism. Ours in the US has the extended base plate for the co2 version. I'm debating on getting it.

@@grayman1 I'm in Canada and for some reason the CO2 version does not have the 9x19 marking on the slide. Not sure why that is. But it does have the Glock branded mag plate. Also, the slide finish is less grainy...
