Disney has this weird obsession with casting grown men with teenage girls. Fun fact followed by a not-so-fun fact: The male lead actor, Drew Seeley, dubbed Zac Efron’s vocals in the first High School Musical movie, partially because the songs were too high for him to sing comfortably. One thing I never understood is that Joe and Selenas Character are supposed to be the same age (they go to HS togeter). But the video depicts her as really young and different from the one we see on screen. Was he a child star? Did he just not finish high school?

Honestly it's a Hollywood trope that gets used a lot that the viewers are conditioned to see as normal: guy succeeds young, goes back to high school because he took time to hone his career because men can do that without consequences, meets younger naive girl who used/still does crush on guy because girl is still in school because she didnt succeed young, guy helps girl succeed because there's no way girl can succeed on her own, happy end. So yeah there's a lot of issues with this plot but for Hollywood it works.
