@heathhalfhill68675 жыл бұрын
Thanks Aaron. I have also have a Yong Heng and i fill a 68 cubic inch and a 3 liter carbon bottles to 4500 psi and have been doing it for over a year with no problems either. I did get a 80 GPM pump for 9$ on Amazon and still have the original pump for back up. I use Royal purple Synthetic oil which is without question a major part of the reason this pump hasn't had any issues but with that I also use a powerful compact fan to keep not only the pipes cool but also the cylinder heads. I use a very small cooler, holds about 8 soda cans, filled with ice...a 7lb bag of pure water ice...and a little bit of water, enough to cover the pump.I also got rid of the thermometer that reads in celsius because i don't understand it and replaced it with a twin pack of the exact same ones that reads in fahrenheit for 5 dollars also on Amazon. My compressor, using this system, has never gotten over 97 degrees ferinhight. I also use my compressor on a roll out yoga mat...2$ at a yard sale, made of heavy foam to reduce noise and vibration. My compressor fills these two bottles 3-4 times a week plus a 22 cubic inch bottle on the Gauntlet and several 480cc carbon bottles on the FXs and the LCS SK-19. These compressors are amazing and just because they are made in China, people sometimes think that they are cheaply made and they wouldn't waste their money on them. Brother...they are wrong. I have removed the motor and all metal and at all contact points where a screw would be or metal to metal contact, adhered double sided sticky foam tape to stop any metal vibration and noise that my be made by it. The sound of my compressor after doing this vibration deadening with the foam tape has made a big difference in the overall tone and loudness of this awesome little machine. The grill for the fan motor also did vibrate a bit and was fixed easily wit clear silicone window sealer in a caulking tube. Ice, fan, higher flow water pump, a temperature gauge i can understand in fahrenheit, sound and vibration deadening materials, and most importantly synthetic compressor oil preferably Royal Purple. Simply, cheap, effective, and a whole lot quieter and cooler. I'm going to try your soaking wet socks and see if my temperature gauge reads any difference. It all helps in the end. Thanks for sharing and helping the newbies. Hopefully your viewers will watch and learn how to make their compressors last like us. I didn't buy the molecular sieve that you have in the video but did make a couple for around 50 dollars with the help of Stephens video at Air Velocity Sport on this compressor. All the components where purchased on Amazon and eBay and have lots and lots of the moisture gathering material left over. It is reusable, 1 of them is Molecular sieve beads type 13x and the other is silica gel beads that change color when they need to be change and recharged, plus activated charcoal. Together they remove water, oil smoke and the smell of it. I don't know if you can breath it, not that I would,but the guns i hope appreciate it. Thanks to guy's like you ,Southern Gunner , Stephen at Air Velocity Sport, Hajimoto and so many others for helping the new air gunners enjoy this sport without the sometimes expensive learning curve. Thank you for your knowledge and the time you take to share it. Hopefully something I have done with mine can be added to others as well as the wet socks. I am going to try it and watch the gauge to see if my compressor will get any cooler. Thank you

I am going to buy a piece of 6x1mm stainless tube and make a new longer outlet pipe with a cooling spiral on it like on the more expensive compressors, it should help keeping the temperature down on longer runs. :-) www.pyramydair.com/images/acc/PY-A-8058_AV-4500-PSI-CompressorHighPressure_1511810076.jpg

I like the idea of ice in the water and the cooling fan to aid in cooling and I am going to look into that oil. You are filling your bottle to 4,500 psi several time a week. That royal purple must be some good stuff. I have also sit my compressor on cushion but I just used the material that cam in the box and it is doing well. I like that you made a filter. That must have been quite a process. Your comment was filled with useful information. Thanks you for that and best of luck.

There is a hole in the bottom of the second stage cylinder where the probe from the thermometer is supposed to be inserted. Also it says to use iso 46 Anti-wear hydraulic oil but I and most other YH users with me recommend a purpose made ISO 100 synthetic HPA compressor oil that is made for and can withstand the up to 200 degree Celcius (400 Freedomheit) that can be reached in the second stage of compressing without carbonizing causing carbon buildup and in time failure of the second stage piston. I got lucky and found Mobile Rarus 827 rebranded to "Rye Oil Compressor Oil 100 Fully Synthetic" for a fraction of the price. I am putting an hour-meter on it to keep a track on running time for oil-changes and to keep track of when stuff needs to be repaired. Congratulate the nephew on a wise choice. :-)

@thehaze19725 жыл бұрын
If you are only filling your gun the cotton filter will suffice if you remember to take it out of the housing and letting it dry until the next filling. If you're filling bottles for more than a few minutes at a time it is neccesary to have some additional form of moisture trap. Hope this helps.
@SquirrelDarling14 жыл бұрын
To save your regulator if you have one in your gun(s), short answer is yes. Dry air is a must, especially if filling tanks. Use the filters that come with it at the very least. You can buy a bag of them on eBay.

Curious what it would take to add some heatsink fins to those high pressure lines. Does the scuba shop question you about filling the air tanks, without having the diving certifications? I prefer wed rags it keep them cooler than anything else you can do. I am not using the tank for diving so it is no concern of a scuba shop. I keep seeing videos showing people using the molecular seive filters, and they mount them upright as they should, but then right below them they keep their OEM black Yong Heng cotton filter. Now, correct me if I am wrong, but alllll that moisture condensing inside the bottom of the big gold colored moisture filter right above it is going to have to be blown through that cotton filter. I don't think the cotton filter should be below the gold filter, but on top of it. That way it will still catch particles and let that nice gold colored filter condense the liquid water, and then still bleed the moisture periodically like you show in this video, at the output manifold of the yong heng. Then you aren't saturating your cotton filter(s). Also, inside the gold filter, the molecular seive dessicant inside needs to sit up towards the top and leave a condensation area in the bottom ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2W7eWyIfLdjmrM should start at 02:11) for liquid water. Then none of your dessicant or cotton sit in (or have to pass) any liquid water. Especially with that dessicant producing acid.. you definitely don't want liquid water carrying dessicant acid back through your fill whip, fittings etc. Please consider what I hope to have explained well. Just my own 2 cents. Thank you for your videos and your kindness.
@aaroncantrell88193 жыл бұрын
It think the cotton filter should be on the bottom not the top because it acts as a pre filter especially for keeping oil out of the main filter. Anyway most of the water will blow right past the small filter when the pressure is released and the rest has a chance of evaporation when the hoses are disconnected after use. I worry more about the harmful oil vapor than the water any way. So I place am much cotton near the bottom and fill the entire top with dessicant to trap the water last after all the oil has been eliminated. I guess everyone has there way of doing it. Your idea works for you and my idea is working great for me. Thanks for watching and for you thoughtful comment. Best of luck.

Keep it cool and change the oil regularly and it will las for years. Also never fill you tank to over 3,800 psi will also increase its longevity. But you can fill your gun to 4,500 if it can take that much pressure. Thanks for watching.

Once the pipes heat up with the rags on them wouldn't that hold more heat on the pipes? You are restricting the air flow I don't understand the logic there. The pipes are hot transmitting heat to the rags holding the heat transfer to the pipes right? Wouldn't it be best to let the pipes receive air flow? A secondary fan would be much better IMO.
@aaroncantrell88194 жыл бұрын
All cars are water cooled for a reason. So I think you are kidding me but let me answer anyway. The pips on he compressor can heat up to over 200 degrees with the best air flow. However with wet rags on them the water will turn to steam at 100 degrees and keep the pips much cooler. However try this. Using the fan method and the wet rags Measure the temperature of the water in the bucket before filling your tanks to 3,000 psi and measure it again afterwards. The water will be much cooler with the wet rag. Thanks.

I have just had a quick look online for sellers and note there are about five models that all look similar. The text was in Chinese characters so I'm not clear on which is which. Does anyone know the specific model this is or the one most commonly used by PCP owners ? I guess the PSI and BAR rating should be enough to order one ? P.S. Spotted what looks like a model number on the manual cover when Aaron flashed it. YH - QBO1 ???

It seems to be only one compressor that has been rebranded under several different names. So I does not matter which one you get. But some of them may have been manufactured earlier then others. The one in this video is one of the newer ones. Here is the information I have. Just paste this in the search on your browser: www.ebay.com/itm/YONG-HENG-30MPA-4500PSI-High-Pressure-Air-Compressor-PCP-Airgun-Scuba-Air-Pump/332584570701?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649. I cam safely say that lots of people have purchase the compressor and I have only had one or two complaints and they were not serious. So feel good about your purchase. I almost purchased the Flashpup but had too many guns. I am sorry I did not get back to you before your birthday. I am 70 also and we both will be 71 soon. Thanks your for watching and best of luck.

@aaroncantrell88194 жыл бұрын
I know you will love it. I am so happy that this compressor became available because before it did the cheapest one I could find was about $1,000. Now I see that many are dropping their prices to compete with the Yong Heng. I recommend keeping down the temperature by using rags and not filling a tank over 3,800 psi. Thanks for the link. Best of luck.

Mostly every thing is any more but the nice thing about this little compressor is that because it has a cheap price most think it is made cheaply...sorry to tell them they would be wrong. Mine has gotten pounded on for over a year running 9 guns and filling two carbon fiber air tanks to 4500 psi multiple times a week and often several times a day for myself my sons and their children. Between all of us we shoot on average 2-3000 rounds a week. None of the guns are sub 12 FPE guns and are all FAC full power PCPs that like to breath heavily. This compressor isn't a higher end model of this brand either. It is a basic Young Heng. Go up and read my comment to Aaron to see why it has lasted so long with all this heavy usage

China made just like just about everything these days. But it has worked great for me for two years. Thanks.
