121 torque spec is super tight, i think if you use a breaker bar and jack up the end of the breaker bar it should work. You can spray a bit of lubrication if you want but the strength of the jack can easy loosen it up.

Type steering fluid for Nissan Titan And 14 1/2 spins ( tie rod) only for driver side or both sides? Thanks
@ivanbotov30043 жыл бұрын
It's not really a specific number of spins. He's basically saying that if you count how many turns it takes to do to take off, is how many you should turn getting it back on. That way, the alignment is the closest to when you took it off and can get you back to the shop before re-allignment.

Thx for the video. I have a 2008 Infiniti QX56 (essentially an Armada). Where are the steering rack bolts located? Right now it’s making creaking and popping noises when backing out and turning slowly out of my drive way. Going in a straight line, I hear nothing. I’ve been told the steering rack bolts can get loose. So I’d like to see if they need to be retorqued. I’ve already installed a newer Stillen brand sway bar stabilizer and sway bar links. The noises are still there tho. Any ideas?
@AaronHinesAuto5 жыл бұрын
I have the same swar bar on my truck and live it. There are a total of 3 bolts that hold the rack on. The bolts go through a metal crossmember under the front part of the oil pan of the engine. I have not personally seen these bolts loosen up. Don’t can’t it can’t happen though. I have seen the rubber-mounts that the bolts go through go bad, which requires replacement of the rack
@sailor955 жыл бұрын
Aaron Hines I also replaced the sway bar rubber bushings and applied Amsoil lube to them and inside the metal bushing brackets. Thought later maybe I shouldn’t have greased them. I really don’t want to take it to a mechanic. Every Armada forum I read pointed to the sway bar bushings and links. It’s not a clicking sound I hear. I know what a bad rack sounds like. Any other possibilities you may know?
@AaronHinesAuto5 жыл бұрын
does the noise only occur when you wheel is turning? with the vehicle off, try having someone turn your steering wheel back and forth quickly, only move the wheel a couple inchs, and look for any play or noises, i would start there and then recheck the nuts on the sway bar links to see if they are still tight. i have had a few work loose after i installed them.

Leaking fluid from inter tie rod good and the steering shaft. Also excessive play in the rack. Have someone turn the wheel 1 inch back and forth while you look at the steering shaft and see if the inner tie rods are moving when the shaft moves. You should have much play, good luck!

ALL was good with the repair.......Well basically until I watched you take a sludge hammer and smash the nut downwards, while still threaded!! No bueno!! Unless your replacing them, not a good idea to hammer on the nut downward like that. Your definitely gonna ruin the threads of the tie rod,, 1000%. Then the top of stud will be mushroomed out, so you can't tap it. Annnnnd yep, ur buying new outer tie rods. Basically your supposed to just use the nut as a shield for the threads of the tie rod, and hammer the hell out of the knuckle of the spindle ((The housing the outer tie rod sits in)). Ive been a Technician for 16+ years and yes I learned very quickly not to do what u just did. Having to pay for some new tie rods out of your own pocket, will dent the wallet a smidge, leaving u having a bad day. :::Just a heads up::: Good video otherwise. 👍👍
@AaronHinesAuto6 жыл бұрын
thanks for the compliment on the video , the point of the nut being on the tie rod is to protect the threads while you remove it from the knuckle. i have removed tie rods this was 100's of times and have never damaged a single one. not to say it cant happen tho.
