This is pretty cool. I like small builds for outpost typically near cave entrances. A small outpost big enough for about two dinos depending on type with basic necessities for crafting. I have something I use with a dino gate, but I would appreciate a build from someone that is tons more creative than me. I know you could make a simple outpost “dino-box” look good. Other than that, the wife and I are starting her first play through on Ragnarok, and I’ll be showing her your videos to see if she would like to build some. Here is a short list of things I’d like to see if you need ideas. Dedicated buildings for making a small town. I generally build huge battle barns with buildings inside. It tends to be super safe and the thrill of the fear is sorta lost, and I think building a small town would be fun. Smithy or blacksmith, restaurant, machine shop for the grinder and fabricator. Maybe something on the Tek tier too. Small dino breeding stables for shoulder pets or ones that can be carried. I have a small fenced in area for a penguin/organic polymer farm. I just think with your skill and flair, you could make these types of buildings awesome. Either way, thanks for your videos and good job. Looking forward to future builds.

I'm appreciating these quick builds. They're a lot more achievable :-) If I'm building a little cottage like this I usually go with adobe sloped roofs over the thatch ones. I prefer the aesthetics of the tiled roof.

When I start out on foot with out any tames yet I would build these little cabins in the snow up north when I would get pelts and meet and other resources I might need I would go to the cabin and use it to say warm cook meat and store some stuff helps out especially when a blizzard rolls through I would build them cheaply I didn’t care if anyone busted down the door because I wouldn’t have valuables inside or anything then when I was down gathering my resources I would make my journey to my home base the cabin would be abandoned once I got tames or a flying Dino I would unlock the door for passerby to use when caught in a blizzard

Quick question... How do the thatch ceilings help with placement? What difference do they make? I am always impressed and inspired by your builds, so would really like some tips.
@AaronLongstaff4 жыл бұрын
If you snap walls to the thatch ceilings it keeps them flush if you flipped them then the corners don’t line up

@@AaronLongstaff Thanks!! Some building mechanics still don't make sense to me but I'll try using this.
@mdbrack4 жыл бұрын
@@AaronLongstaff Dude, I've been wondering this for a while and never really researched it. This makes -so- much sense, no wonder my cutting corners always had some poor placement! Thanks for the explainer! For future possibilities, in case you get a dry spell on creating, a tips/tricks video explaining some of these would be amazing.
@Tantalus0104 жыл бұрын
To expand on what Aaron said a bit: when you flip a wall on a ceiling or foundation, ARK's building system moves the wall a little so that it no longer sits right on the edge of the foundation. As a result, when it comes to a corner with another wall, the walls won't line up properly. By snapping a thatch ceiling (or a thatch foundation) to the original foundation and then snapping the wall to the thatch ceiling, you can effectively place the wall inside out and still have it line up with the line between the two foundations. You can demolish the thatch foundation (and still keep the wall) because the snap point the wall uses is shared by both foundations, so one foundation can be demolished without losing support for the wall. It's also worth saying that if you don't want to flip your wooden walls inside out, then you don't need any of the thatch ceilings and can just snap the wooden walls to the wooden foundations normally.

Why do you need the fence foundations and thatch ceilings when you already have a wooden foundations there to snap to? I'm new at this, just asking because it wasn't explained. And while we're at it, what do people put pillars for on the corners?
@deggers12313 жыл бұрын
Love you builds and tutorials. Have done a few of them now including this one. With this one I couldn't get the re-enforced door to place correctly. It always has a noticeable gap down one side. I ended up using a normal door in the end.
@shaneholston6816 Жыл бұрын
It’s always gonna have that gap unfortunately I have the same house and same problem. To fix it you can put a stone door frame up that goes with that door but then you’ll have to replace all the wood with stone, then you will have a Tiny Stone Cabin instead of wood 😂
