@@bespiller8221I find it interesting when people, without even trying a fragrance for themselves, tell me something between the lines of: “Well, “X” reviewer already said that fragrance “x” is not good, so it’s not worth it”. Very polarizing “opinions” these days, most people won’t even take the time to try, form their own opinion and decide for themselves.

2:05 In case anyone is wondering, MSDS is Material Safety Data Sheet. It's used to describe chemicals, their testing results and directions for what to do in case of exposure. Since we are putting this stuff on our skin, it's good to see creators references this. He has a degree in chemistry and that's a common practice when dealing with any chemical.
@justinlivingston11113 күн бұрын
Also, to expand, the CoA (certificate of analysis) is the sheet that comes with the material showing that the chemical tested inside the ranges that are expected - color, 1,4 Dioxane content, etc.

I love Aaron's vids, I've been watching them all summer. I love hearing true artists talking passionately about their work while making it accessible, entertaining and breaking it down for the lay person. The highest compliment I can give him is that to me he's the David Attenborough of the Fragrance world. I've just taken the plunge and ordered Guapo, Blue Fever and Homme. I can't wait for their arrival...no pressure.

Oh man I have been begging for you to review this one. I'm a little sad you don't love it as its my absolute favorite. I own two bottles of this as well as Stallion and Cadenza. The Passionfruit can be a bit jarring to some but I enjoy it so much as I think its an interesting combination that changes quite a bit. The dry down is lovely and performance is beastly. Cheers and hope you like Oud Cadenza more than this.

Aaron, have you started to speed up your reviews? This fragrance last 20+ on skin, 2 weeks on clothing and after washing it is still there. It projects a lot, and it projects for hours in the summer heat! Also, it evolves from passionfruit to rose-oud to leather. This is a magnificent scent. I cannot understand why you don't give a longer wear and then give dry-down review. By the way, I was extremely looking forward to this review since I cannot convince myself to pay 200 euros for 50ml.

You've inspired me to start ordering some tiny vials of the various raw materials and chemicals that come up often so I can see what they're like on their own. It's very fun! I might even pick up a book or two on perfumery to try learning more about how good fragrances are constructed. Funny story... I got some Iso e Super, and wore a tiny bit on it's own, which smells amazing, but quite subtle to me. Within 5 seconds of walking up to a collogue, she was like "someone smells amazing!" had her smell it and she was like, "YES, that's it!" hahaha. Very fun. Thanks!

@schneir514 күн бұрын
I've been on a big oud kick lately! I just went on my first vacation in years; I visited a fancy mall a few hours' drive from home over the last few days. I ended up buying a 50 ml bottle of Roja Parfums Sweetie Aoud parfum, after trying a bunch of fragrances at the Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Ave, Louis Vuitton store, Chanel boutique, and others. I even got to try the Amouage Attars, at Neiman Marcus! I got to try so many things that I had only seen in videos before. I know that I got on some of the sales' peoples nerves, but that wasn't my intent lol most of them saw me with my little book of test blotters and notepad, and just left me alone, but the one lady at Saks got annoyed that I asked her how much something cost. The ironic part is that I had planned this whole trip because it was one of the closest Louis Vuitton stores that carried the extrait fragrances. There are six of them, and I had particularly wanted to try Myriad and Symphony. Symphony is mostly a grapefruit top note scent, and Myriad is oud. The Louis Vuitton store near me just got those two and Cosmic Cloud in stock last week, so I tried those and bought Myriad already. It's the most expensive fragrance I've bought so far. Sweetie Aoud cost more by volume, but since I only got a 50 ml bottle, it was less overall. I had really wanted to buy Cherry Oud, from Guerlain, but they didn't have it in stock. I was just going to get a 100 ml bottle, which is their smaller size, with 200 ml being the other. They had one oud fragrance in stock, but only 200 ml and I think it was Oud Kheir or something like that; it definitely wasn't the one I really wanted. I also got to try a few Xerjoff fragrances. I had only tried my bottle of Naxos before this, that I got on sale from Amazon for like $220 or something, for the 100 ml bottle. It's pretty much the regular price, as far as I know. I think it's authentic, but I just don't love the fragrance. People say it's supposed to smell like honey and tobacco, but it smells like licorice to me. I tried Guerlain Tobacco Honey, and really liked it. That's how I had hoped Naxos would smell. I tried both Tony Iommi fragrances and also Alexandria II, and I really liked all three of those, but I love Alexandria II! I also tried Bond No 9 Nomad, because I have a sample of it and really like it. Bond No 9 Nomad, Xerjoff Alexandria II, Guerlain Cherry Oud, Oud Nude, Roja Sweetie Aoud, and Montale Oudmazing all really smelled amazing to my nose. I tried some Initio too, like Oud for Greatness, and it was definitely good, but it seemed like the other ones I mentioned were way better. I also sampled a Clive Christian oud scent, that was really nice. I think I have a good idea of how oud smells in general now, and I'm pretty sure that my bottle of Sweetie Aoud has real oud oil in it, even if none of my other ones do. I had hoped that Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade and Myriad had real oud oil, but seeing the prices for fragrances with real oud oil has made me not so optimistic. Frederic Malle charges $250 for a ten ml bottle, or like $1,300 for a 50 ml bottle of Hope, for example. I know those Amouage Attars are super expensive too.
@schneir514 күн бұрын
I ordered a 100 ml bottle of Xerjoff Alexandria II also, because it was on sale on Amazon, for slightly cheaper for the 100 ml than they wanted for the 50 ml bottle at Neiman Marcus. It's sold and shipped by Amazon, so I'm pretty confident that it will be authentic. I think every fragrance that I've bought so far from Amazon, that was actually sold and shipped by Amazon, has been authentic. I have a couple Maison Margiela Replica ones, that seem suspicious, but I don't think they were sold by Amazon. I've just ordered two bottles directly from the Margiela website, and my By the Fireplace, Jazz Club, and Beach Walk all seem suspicious now, sadly. Sorry for getting sidetracked with that lol The lady who helped me when I finally bought my bottle of Roja Parfums Sweetie Aoud parfum gave me a bunch of free samples and stuff; it was really nice. She gave me this big bag and matching purse, and said I can give it to my mom. I don't know if they work on commission, but she seemed really gracious that I asked her, rather than just any random associate, because I had spoken to her a few times and she had helped me a lot, when I was ready to actually buy something. She gave me her card and said to ask her if I need anything in the future. Maybe I will order that bottle of Guerlain Cherry Oud with her help. She gave me a sample decant of Chanel No 5 EDP and the new Allure Homme Sport Superleggera, so maybe she can hook me up with more free samples, like even Candy Aoud and Fruity Aoud, I think those are the other two in that series, if I order Montale Oudmazing and Guerlain Cherry Oud with her help in the future. Hopefully I will be able to make this same trip again; it was really fun. We definitely don't have fancy malls like that around here. Sorry for rambling like this.

I tested this on my skin yesterday and I totally agreed with Aaron, there is something weird going on in the first hour. Once it dries down leaving the base and middle notes, then it is calming down as another oud type of perfume.
