Aaron Terence , I need to tell that, I'm not a professional in perfumery, I'm just just a simple person that love perfumes. It been 2 years that I've been watching all your fascinating video amongst from others reviewers. But you are my number one of all. Really. I work as a chef for many years now, the nose of chefs are very sensitive with smell and most chefs really don't like much perfumes at all. It is also really hard to work in such environment wearing perfumes. Because I don't want to make anybody feel uncomfortable because of what I am wearing. And I do respect that. Working in an environment where we focus a lot of what we are doing, plus the heat, will change our brain from the concept of wearing even the most beautiful perfume. The brain is such an amazing mechanism that change mood from the environment that we are. But as soon as I get home, after a nice shower,. I love wearing a beautiful perfume even my new recent samples, to try and will buy after if I like. To relax me and the perfume takes me to another place , another calming beautiful mood, making me wiser and all that before I go to bed. It's amazing the mood the perfumes do to me. On my day off I will do the same. I love art, I love perfumes, I love you guys the perfumers thank so much and please, I hope that the AI will not take you over one day. But until this ever happened, thank you so Aaron. I need to try patchouli ardent. The video that U made from this, yes I still remember it. I'm a huge fans of Amber perfumes. I believe Francis Kurkdjian with Dior is re-releasing Ambre Nuit among a couple others very soon. I'd hold off reviewing it until I could try the new version/ formulation.

Some of my favourite ambers: TF Amber Absolute, Hermes Ambre Narguille, Initio Absolute Aphrodisiac, Hermes L'Ombre Des Merveilles. Also to me TF Tobacco Oud has an ambery vibe to it that I enjoy a lot.

Maison Francis kurkdjian Grand Soir, I wore this today paired it with my wet shaving soap/splash and face balm called merchant of tobacco from wholly kaw. The pairing is absolutely beautiful. It's one of my favorite amber scents and last until you shower again. Ex nihilo amber sky might be the best amber I have ever smelled though, it's nuclear and last 24 hours easy. If you haven't tried ex nihilo amber sky, try it!

I bought Ambre Nuit directly from Dior this year and I don‘t have any issues with longevity. Easily lasts 8 hours on my skin. Love it!

My Ambre Nuit lasts for ages - on clothes it’s still very strong the next day even if, during the wear, it doesn’t feel as strong - typical ‘nose blindness’ I expect but it certainly lasts - hope the newer bottles are not poor as it’s one of my staples! TF Noir Extreme and Ombré Leather are also among my favourites but I’m out of both right now. Might wear Black Orchid as my SOTD today though after watching this.

Niche, to me, still is under the traditional definition of "a house that strictly sells perfume", ignoring stuff like candles, makeup etc. I think niche is becoming widely available.

I also started to enjoy dark fragrances all year round, not just in cold weather, but they have to be smooth and sweet, not too smoky or too spicy, and definitely not bitter or sour.

Gris Charnel is a delicious iris, cardamom, black tea, fig, vetiver, tonka, and sandalwood perfume. If you like iris I recommend trying it.

I like Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan scent. It does smell nice with the Vanilla,Amber, Benzoin and Myrrh. Though this scent tends to be subdued and sort of a closer skin scent. Which is fine. Not everything must be announced. Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan is fairly older too .Great office or date scent. I am 37 and this is just superb and timeless. If you do want more projection then try Guerlain Bois Mysterieux. Which is more spicy My favorite Serge Lutens overall would be Écrin de Fumée.

Spot on, Aaron. The first two Dior fragrances I acquired last year (and the only two to date) are Tobacolor and Ambre Nuit. Both are exquisite and Tobacolor is especially very much a niche fragrance and much overlooked and packs a punch which is unexpected for a designer house. With all the talk of reformulation I made sure not to wait to buy Tobacolor as I think it’s brilliant. Yes, Serge Lutens sold out to Shiseido a few years ago. I would have included MFK’s Grand Soir on your list. Always look forward to your insightful reviews.

My son is a huge fan of yours! He owns something like 15 of your scents. He let me try several of them, and honestly, I loved every single one of them. I really need to purchase a few of them, well, maybe I will start with 3 or 4 :) One thing I have noticed when comparing expensive perfumes like yours and others like Creed (i know you are not a fan) against dupes/nockoffs... the originals are noticeably better. The originals have little to no "chemical" smell whereas the dupes have a notable chemical smell. Thanks for your videos and your good works. Take care from America.

I can’t imagine a stronger version of Black Orchid. I recently smelled it for the first time and I’m still trying to decide what I think of it. I haven’t even sprayed it on my skin yet. I did one spray on a strip and was still trying to get the smell out of my house 8 hours later. There are aspects of it that I truly adore but I’m afraid it will result in headaches. I tried Velvet Orchid first and got a boomer. I was never one to shy away from a stronger fragrance, and amber/oriental/warm/spicy fragrances with hints of sweetness have always been my favorites. I wore the original Dior Poison in elementary and high school (late 80s/early 90s) but I’ve spent almost 2 decades working as a 911 dispatcher and have grown accustomed to skin scents that won’t bother others. This is way out of my wheelhouse… at the moment. I’m trying to break out of this habit when the occasion is right but I’m having such a hard time with it. I’ve stuck with D&G The One since it’s release even though the performance annoys me to no end. I love the smell and it’s great in an office environment.

How it is now (2023) It’s sooooooo strong, I couldn’t imagine it stronger. Agreed 100% . Ambre sultan; ambre nuit; noir extreme; ombre leather ( i think that I prefer the edp), black afgano. The Bad boy is good too but forgettable in my opinion. I haven't tried the rest yet. Grand soir , Mercedes club and Prada amber intense should be on the list!!

I've seen many KZbinrs out here that are great, but Aaron has so much passion for this that I immediately took notice that he is a force to be reckoned with in fragrance. My mother made a book of scents for me as a toddler (it contained ginger, cinnamon, cloves among others), and I became awakened to scents. I WILL get my nose on those ASAP!

Another beautiful amber fragrance is Xerjoff‘s 40 Knots, I highly recommend you give it a try, apparently it smells similar to Ambre Nuit, but that I can’t judge as I haven’t smelled that yet… Other than that, great video as always!

Yes, there is a similarity, except AN has a beautiful rose but seems to dry down synthetic to my nose. 40 Knots is incredibly blended, great for fall

I like Prada's Amber Intense. It makes me feel classy & sophisticated each time I wear it. It has great longevity and its sillage is decent. The fragrance smells warm, spicy, & dark yet smooth. Honestly, I think Prada's Amber Intense is a designer fragrance with the qualities of a niche fragrance in my opinion.

I love ambers in perfumery. Most of the fragrances in my collection have an amber raw material in their composition. Would love to see a video on some of BDK Parfums fragrances, specifically Gris Charnel, Rouge Smoking, and Tabac Rose. One of my favorite houses by far.

Hi Aaron! Would it be possible to do a review of some Dua fragrances. It’s an inspiration house that also makes their own fragrances and there’s been an ongoing war in fragcomm about the quality of their ingredients/oils. We’re so divided on this. Autumn is my favorite season and a lot of it has to do with my love for the dark amber fragrances. TF Black Orchid thrives in the cold weather, it's bold, dark and mysterious. It's a fragrance that transforms hours later in the dry down and stays on your clothes.

Chergui for me, is still a beast in terms of performance. I had a bottle in 2019 and that stuff was way overpowering with just 3 sprays. Lasted an easy 12 hours or more.

I separated my fragrances last week into warm and cool weather fragrances and I noticed how many cool weather ones I have, I personally love this time of year, serge Lutens I have, love it but l’occitane Eux de baux is the most divine vanilla, it is an edt but I just don’t care about the performance it’s beautiful. Top of my collection is Amouage overture man 😮

I seasonally separate my frags as well. If I was asked which type I prefer I’d answer Fresh Spring/ Summer Fragrances however I’ve so many more Fall/Winter fragrances including samples.

I have both Ambre Nuit batches, and it happens that the most recent one (2021) it's more vanilic/sweet type of amber, while the older bottle (2015) it's drier, powdery and resinous ype of amber. IMO, it got worse, it's still the same DNA but with a touch of sweetnes that annoys me.
