September 23rd 2018 marked a milestone for the Pleasant Point Railway in South Canterbury as they held a celebration to welcome back their Ab 699 back into service after a five year overhaul in the workshops. Along with a combined celebration since the closure of the Fairlie Branch 50 years ago, 699 was dressed up as Ab 718 for part of the occasion and ran trains throughout the day with D 16 & the Model T Ford Railcar Rm 4. Special night running was also held to top the special day off, enjoy some of New Zealand's best rail preservation at its finest!
