Looking at how his hands stretch out so easily I think "dang idk if I can do this, but I'm absolutely in love with this song and the music so let's try!😆" I can already feel my beginner self struggling a whole lot, one day I can play it like a master though :)

Joep Beving is 6'10. That fact makes me feel better about myself when I have to rule this song out because I can't make those stretches.
@Pietje9002 жыл бұрын
This was actually the first piece I learned as this was the piece that inspired me to start playing piano. As I discovered this piece I thought: "this is so beautiful, yet so symplistic, I could play this!" Without knowing how tall Joep Beving is or how big his hands are and how much he actually takes advantage of that. I'm 2 centimeters shorten than Joep Beving (he's 6'10, I'm 6'9), luckily I'm absurdly tall as well with a good set of piano fingers, but I've never felt this kind of cramping in my hands before with these chords. Also I really wasn't prepared for the ending of the piece, it took me three weeks to learn the entire piece, and about half a year to play it without hickups, consistently. I'd still say it's a great beginner piece since I never felt unmotivated to learn it, as long as you got big hands and feel something for the piece. Most of it is really easy, but don't forget Joep used the be a Jazz pianist and he needs to show off a little in almost every piece he composes.
@Pietje9002 жыл бұрын
@@adambergstrom3650 there are clever solutions to it. With the chords just play the note he plays with his pinky one octave higher. The chords will sound almost the same. With the ending you can swing your hand from left to right as he doesn't play the notes at once.

Is there a way to train your hands to be able to reach the bass chords? Or will I just struggle with small hands forever? Or is there a way to shorten the chords? Like an inversion?
@PianoTimeOfficial5 жыл бұрын
You can short the chords by just not playing the top note. But your hands will grow bigger %100 so just hang in there
Your left hand is amazing. I struggle to stretch my finger but can't seem to reach the note yet.
@donyanaftchi2849 Жыл бұрын
hey, I don’t know if you already found a way that works for you but you can actually pick up some of the notes for the left hand with your right hand. In some parts where this isn’t possible you can also separate the notes from one chord and play them quickly so it won’t be too noticeable :) from someone with small hands lol

I'm a beginner and been learning this piece. I came here to try and see how you transition your hands at 3:30. From the start of the video I began getting worried I was playing the left hand wrong. Then I realized I don't have man hands and can't possibly play the same keys you did lol. Forgot to say, you played this piece beautifully :)
