Does a neutral stimulus only become a conditioned reinforcer if it is paired with an unconditioned reinforcer? Or can pairing it with an already established conditioned reinforced work too?

Great question. Pairing can happen with a conditioned or unconditioned reinforcer.

How do you pair in a school setting without disrupting class? I haven't worked in the school setting yet and I am curious.

Hi Nastassia, great question!! It can be very difficult to set up an environment in the school setting that is fully reinforcing to a student. We should ask ourselves, what does the classroom have that does not disrupt the other students that can be used? How about attention to that individual or fidgets at the desk that do not make noise? There can be ways to gather information about potential reinforcers before building rapport that can be helpful. :)
