In this video, we explore an abandoned resort that was once part of the tourist destinations managed by Lomaliitto ry. Lomaliitto, founded in the 1940s, provided affordable vacation options primarily for low-income families, retirees, and employees. The organization was a key player in Finnish tourism during the late 20th century and managed several resorts across Finland. However, Lomaliitto ceased operations in 2009 due to financial difficulties, and many of its former resorts were either sold to private owners or left abandoned.
In this video, we examine what remains of this former resort today. We walk through its deserted buildings and silent grounds, where the deteriorating condition of the place reveals traces of its past life. This video offers a fascinating glimpse into how the passage of time and the exploration of abandoned sites can uncover aspects of a forgotten tourist culture.
