My first proper job was in the old Police station on the docks next to where the first of the 4 bridges is. It’s been demolished but my view out looked over the level crossing and signal box at the far end where you said it was 8 o’clock. It was a bout another 1/4 mile and the line used to come out near where Birkenhead College is now. I used to watch the class 47 diesels coming and going from the docks by Corporation street which used to be a real prozzie hang out.lol and all the pubs used to have strippers performing at lunchtimes and evenings hahah.. The docks line closed in the early 80s but the other lines to Woodside closed in 1967

Really great video. One thing I caught, at 23 min 52 secs, it says coronation , not corporations. King Edward VII’s coronation was in 1902, so those bricks must be over 100 years old now and put there to celebrate the coronation. Also, according to the internet, an event took place in Birkenhead Park in 1902 for the coronation and they planted an oak tree. And finally, they built the Edward VII memorial clock tower, in 1911 which is at Clifton Crescent, Birkenhead.

16:27 up above on the right is where my dad used to park his car in the mid 70s I climbed up the wall and looked down near the arches where your mate is heading and in the tracks was a poor cat that had been cut in half by the wheels of a train. I’ll never forget that. Later on in the 80s the building that is up above on the right was a night club called Ruperts my first girl friend used to go there to get shagged lol.. there was a big shiny metal strip across the doorway and I reckon the bouncers used it to look up the girls skirts hahah

Does anybody know of a Birkenhead Railway Station which had a pub next door which had a bar so thin you had to stand right next to the pumps and a pool room again with a narrow space around the table the cues were 2ft long?

Used to walk through the old tunnel from woodside, must have been late 60's or early 70's. The sleepers had been removed and piled up to try and block the entrance. I must have been 12 or 13 yrs old.
