Damn, never realised there were so many abandoned buildings around Derby. The large houses at the start, I really don't understand why such beautiful buildings are left to rot like that.

So many homeless people and at the same time, so many people-less homes. Seems like there should be a solution there somewhere? Nice work highlighting all those places!

You don't give houses to drug addicts. Don't be stupid.

We're in the process of trying to buy a house that's been unoccupied for 12 years. It's taken a year just to be able to view it. It'll probably be another year before we can buy it as negotiations drag on. Sometimes, something things take a long time.

Thanks for showing these buildings, there are many more also in decline. Much of the city has been in constant decline since the 1980's. The only positive development in the private sector currently taking place is the complete overhaul of the site behind the old Debenhams on Victoria Street. How long though before that is halted in the current economic climate? All other development of recent date in the city center is large ugly student development inappropriate with the otherwise good architecture of the older town.

I live in Chesterfield it's the same here . The town has never recovered from the lose of industry in the 1990s now parts of the town have rows of empty shops and closed pubs complete with once grand hotel left to rot the market place is a haven for drug dealers and street drinkers and homeless people sat in doorways. I grew up here but I no longer recognise the place .

The buildings at the start of the video are being demolished, this is in front of the old DRI, they are building a new housing estate there. So hardly "abandoned".
@NBMedia89283 жыл бұрын
They were very much abandoned 2 years ago when this video was filmed
@stevegarside46673 жыл бұрын
@@NBMedia8928 I think you need to look up the definition of the word "abandoned". It is clearly a demolition site which is a far cry from a simple forgotten about building.
@Liz-hz6dd4 жыл бұрын
The buildings at the beginning are park of the old DRI site. They’re gona be knocked down to make way for a new housing development.

Good video once again Nosey. You could write to Mr Nicholas van Hoogstraten. C/O The Courtlands Hotel 19-27 The Drive, Hove, Brighton BN3 3JE He may be interested in making enquiries regarding purchasing and doing up the first properties especially. If you haven't heard of him, Google him. He's quite a colourful character, has had documentaries made about him even. A very wealthy man indeed and loves buying up properties etc. Not bad for a man who started off with a stamp collection (He now has a collection of properties around the World, a palace he is building down in East Sussex that is bigger than Buckingham Palace, gold and diamond mines in Africa etc, etc).

Lead thieves operating. Ripping out rain water valleys, ripped out copper pipes and wires. No questions asked to scrap merchants. Water ingress rotting out rafters and floors. This justifies their choice of demolition as costs exceeds returns.
