Still there someone bought an fully fixed everything. Re painted to the same color it’s amazing. Use to be the best burgers in town. If you pass through Gordon again lemme know. I’ll show yall Around.

Before we left Texas 10 years ago my wife & I tried to buy it but never got any return calls. We used to live on Palo Pinto Lake. I hope whomever bought it did something with it. It was definitely a cool place with alot of memories.

Awesome! I drive by this one a lot, but never stopped to look at it. I good indicator of when it was last open, is the little round weights, and measures decals from the state of Texas, seen at 3:04, below the pump readout for price per gallon. The year is punched out with a hole punch. Been a long time since they used the round decals. Now they are the shape of Texas.

Drive west on I-20 about 31 miles to highway 6 ( eastland Texas ) and there’s another abandoned gas station. It looks MORE like a gas station with repair bays etc. BTW it’s for sale. On another note, about 3 years ago I was interested in buying an old abandoned gas station. I would be required to have the old Gas tanks dug out and all the dirt replaced with Clean dirt. All at a great expense. Basically ANY old gas station for whatever business you intend to use the land for will require the old gas tanks to be dug out. Thanks

A lot of gas pumps back then were not made to go over $1 per gallon so the gallon total would be correct but you have to double the price. If you ever go to Roby Texas I'm pretty sure my dad's old gas station is still standing. It is called Stewart service. You should be able to go inside. There is an old Tire Rack, a big sign, a lift for oil changes and if you go to the far back by the alley there is an old storm cellar. But I wouldn't go in the cellar because of the black widow spiders!

20 years ago I had friends that lived in Gordan. They picked me up to go to a football game in Abilene. Tara was very pregnant and we stopped there for a bathroom break. It was very popular back then. Lots of people eating at the restaurant and yes that was a real trolley car. The owners lived there in Gordan.

Hey WallieB26 you could tell at one point in time this was a Phillips 66 before it became a Chevron by looking at the canopy

I used to eat there everyday in the 90's when I worked near by for a Rancher. Stopping in there in the morning for coffee it always smelled like eggs frying. The food and barbecue was really good. The lady behind the counter always seemed very stressed out, word had it the tanks were shot and they couldn't afford to replace them. In all I'm glad it was still standing at this point, and hope someone does something with it. Majestic peace & memories.

Wallie, they are demolishing the last Super Kmart Center in Warren, Ohio as of today. It looks like they have just begun to put up fences. Meijer might be starting to build a new location pretty soon.

Wallie (8:45), most likely it was the contents of one of those COIN OPERATED "SKILL" CRANE MACHINES operated in malls, which are full of small stuffed animals, like those seen there along with the rest of the trash (cylinders were for the by-the-cup carbonated soft drinks) from that restaurant inside that Chevron.

I always think of- at one time when this was first built- brand new- this was somebody’s baby, somebody’s dream. Now it’s just abandoned and forgotten.
@pauled8no13 жыл бұрын
This was a Phillips 66 before Chevron as evidenced by the black canopy with the red stripe going through the center showing where some of the Chevron trim has fallen off of the canopy. That was the Phillips color scheme in the late 80s and 90s. The Chevron sign frame suggests this closed in the early 2000s. The pumps show Chevron’s older logo. The building behind the trolley car looks like an old castle style Sinclair from the 1930s.

Awesome find!! Love that you can still see the Chevron logo on the first pump. Really surprised that the regular and diesel plastic signs are still on the pumps. Figured they’d be gone and in someone’s collection. The animals were from crane games. The Pooh Bears are the exact same as I would win in those games. I gave many of them away back in the day.

I really like seeing your vintage gas station videos. On WV 8, there was once a really cool vintage Gulf full service station. The Gulf station, was the vintage Art Deco architecture. It was a really cool vintage service station. Yes, it was a full service gas station, with an on duty auto mechanic. He would check your oil, etc, when you got your tank filled. The service station had 2 car bays with the lifts in both bays. Have a Chevronlicious Day!

The Trolley was the last and final step for this old gas station which was going from back in the 40’s when I was just a kid. Using a trolley car was a way to get around renovating the old gas station and restaurant. This station was just never able to compete with with the one across the highway, before Interstate 20 came through and eliminated the one on the south side of the road. Much history on both stations.

Funny how Chevron (which originally was STANDARD OIL OF CALIFORNIA, which was the California successor to the Standard Oil monopoly) bought TEXACO, whose name is a shortened name for THE TEXAS COMPANY! People in Texas love to make fun of California, and some Texans truly do HATE California, so a bit ironic that California's biggest oil company bought their Texas counterpart! Also, there's an oil company in Australia, South Africa, and maybe a few other countries (but definitely not in America or Canada) called CALTEX, which was originally called the California Texas Oil Company, because it was started as a joint venture between Chevron and Texaco over 70 years before those two companies merged! Ironically, even though Chevron bought the Texaco refineries and trademarks, the majority of Texaco gas stations in America were sold to SHELL instead of Chevron. And even though Shell has American operations based in Houston, Shell is actually a DUTCH-British company, contrary to the common misconception that Shell is an American company which was founded in Texas!
