This is the last installment of the craftsman dyt4000 mower that was left in a field for a very long time. This Briggs and Stratton engine still needed a fuel pump installed for the rear gas tank to function, as well as the proper deck belt in order for the electric pto driven deck to engage. This riding mower needed a lot of work and cleaning, but it running and functioning again. Thank you all for watching.

I picked up a DYT4000 off marketplace for $50. Guy couldn't get it started and also said when last he tried mowing with it the engine would kill when he tried pulling the switch to activate the deck. Very nice shape, seat didn't even have a crack in it. I just did regular maintenance - oil & filter, air filter, pulled carb and cleaned it, drained old gas, new spark plug. With a new battery, fired right off and ran good. The "killing" part.... the deck had a seized spindle on it. Replaced and everything worked perfectly. Grease all the zerks and way we go!!! Sometimes, have to be glad some people don't know how cheap it is to fix things.... Guessing this dude went and spent another $2k-$3k on brand new when he could have spent a little time and about $50 over regular maintenance costs....

It really cleaned up very well. I was wandering how the pto would engage also without battery, being electric.I would say this was well worth the time effort and the $120 investment. Should be a easy sell there's always love for a red mower💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

I didn’t even think about it when starting up. In my head I was thinking the charging system would take care of the PTO, but yes it needs to have that battery in. Thank you so much for the support and happy holidays 🎄

Good job bud, mower turned out nice. I wish the mowers I get, I'd only have $120 invested. Every mower I get is beat the hell out of, and seats are torn up.

I’ve had plenty that I wasn’t so lucky on. I certainly understand what you mean. Always a risk involved when buying and selling. I’ve got a few seats I need to figure out what I’m doing with on mowers to sell. Either tape or seat covers, but the covers are extra $.

@@freedommowers420 I know you probably going to say for me to kick myself for what I'm about to say, but I've going to start buying universal seats. I had mower I wanted $450 for with a tapped seat, was turned down multiple times. I put a new seat on for $80, I sold for $550. With seat included I had $283.00 invested in it.
@freedommowers420

@@mowersbymitch I’ll have to look into that as well. People that’s flip equipment know that cosmetics can make or break a deal unfortunately. I know there are some decent quality seat covers that can be bought as well for around $30-40. Thank you for the tip on that. It’s crazy the reasons people back out.

That cleaned up really well. The paint job on the cover made a world of difference. You should be able to triple your money on the investment and then some. Great series. Keep up the good work Alex!

Finally subbed! Those are some of my favorite Craftsman mowers. I had an LT1750 limited edition early 2020 that I loved, similar to this with an electric PTO. I would list for $750-$800 in the Spring in my area. You'll probably get it.

Thanks Casey. Yea I’m right there with you on these machines. Great units with plenty of parts available. Hoping to get something close to that price. Would be great. My biggest problem when selling is listing too low, so this year I’m going on the high side and drop down when needed. Happy New Year, and thank you for the support.

That looks really nice. One thing I always do to an old mower, is grease the spindle bearings, Even if their sealed. Because the factories put almost nothing in them. And grease whichever type of wheel bearings it has. That can save someone a ton of money later on. And drum it into their heads not to leave it outdoors.
@freedommowers420
@freedommowers420 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I do that a lot with sealed bearings. I’ll either pull off the seal of go in with my grease needle. Appreciate the tips and stopping by the channel 🤘

Great finish to a project that was headed to the scrap yard before you rescued it Alex! The engine sounds great and i would just run some Seafoam in the gas before you buy a new carb. That tractor in my area in the spring would bring $600-$650 easily and you might even get a project in trade. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a prosperous Happy New Year! 🌲🌲🇺🇸Roger

Thank you roger!! I’m very pleased how this one turned out. Good thinking on the sea foam. I have a can here that over used on a few mowers. I’ll run some through and see what it does. I’m hoping to pull in around $500 on this one, but like you said, a nice trade would be awesome too. I’m always glad to take trade ins. Merry Christmas brother, and thank you for the kind words. 🤘🤘🎄

Had a similar one these. Except my unit was a GP 4000 (garden tractor) with a 25HP Kolher engine. It cut very clean. I had 2 issues with this unit both had to do with the steering. 1: It's turning radius was way too wide. 2:The steering unit became very sloppy to say the least. It also had the head bolt issue and it began to smoke, so I was able to obtain new bolts and reinstall the head, seemed to be OK after that. I used mine for spreading fertilizer, lawn dethatching, sweeping and towing my utility cart.
@freedommowers420
@freedommowers420 2 жыл бұрын
I can certainly see the same trend on this one with the sloppy steering. I bet that 25hp kohler you had on yours had plenty of power to get all that yard work done. Thank you very much for stopping by :)

Hey, I’ve got a non-working DYT4000 with a 42” deck and am looking at a used YTS3000, 46” deck. Will a 42” fit the yts3000 instead of the 46” do ya think? A 46” won’t fit through where I need to go.

Hope you can help - I am trying to replace the interlock switch on my DYT 4000 and cant for the life of me figure out how to move the brake bar to make way to push the new switch up through the opening. Any information you can provide on what bolts to loosen to gain access to the opening. Manual is worthless and cant find any videos specific to the DYT 4000. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Where do you order your parts for this Craftsman DYT4000???
@freedommowers420
@freedommowers420 8 ай бұрын
You can find the model number usually under the seat area if you need parts for the mower. If you need engine parts, get the number off the valve cover. You can find a lot of places online that sell the parts.
