Maybe someone died in the house and weren't found for a long time, considering the remoteness of the ranch...I have seen it before were people have died and their body decompose.. The fluids and smell get into every fabric of the home. It takes stripping the place bare and thoroughly cleaning and redecorating to get rid of that smell.. I have smelt that smell up front and it never leaves you, it's horrible, I can smell it now just thinking about it.

I'd love to live in a remote place like this but not this one -- that smell is impossible to eradicate when it's permeated the structure this deeply. And you can't ever get used to it, the way some people get "nose blind" to the smell of cat urine; because humans have an intrinsic aversion to sleeping in a place that has the smell of death.

Its interesting to think this piece of land has sat empty and abandoned for who know how long. It looks like it could be a great place if cleaned up and rebuilt on, but that in itself is the problem. It's worth nothing to anyone as it sits, someone owns it but will do absolutely nothing with it, until someone is interested in it, than all the sudden your trespassing if found on the property, or if you find the owner and express and interest in buying it, the price is so ridiculous it wasn't worth wasting your time. Thanks for the video.

Calculator is a Commodore 207 ^^ (had to look it up) adding machine, made in Japan. Commodore originally sold typewriters then adding machines. They began importing their adding machines from Japan by 1965. By the early 1970s they concentrated on electronic calculators instead. This machine therefore dates from about 1965 to 1970. Compared to a pocket calculator it is huge - about 5.5" x 7.5" x 11" and weighing over ten pounds. It really only adds and subtracts, although it has a X key for repeat addition. Purchased at a yard sale in the Clairemont area of San Diego on 4-29-06 for $.50. It appears to be in good working condition although I have not tried it out with a tape and new ribbon. The cover comes off by moving two tabs at the bottom. See Internal View. It is a mechanical calculator utilizing the same basic technology as the Dalton adding machine below from the 1920s or before. The mechanics are powered by electricity.

+Lisa Tatum Thank you. I have a Canon 6D, Rebel t2i, and a Panasonic Hc-v770. The Panasonic is the new one, and I am favoring it since it has auto focus while recording. I am still trying to figure out which is best for these types of videos. I know a lot of explorers use a Canon Rebel or similar DSLR,, but I also notice they have to hit that focus button and you can see it every time it refocuses. Any suggestions on which type of camera you would use out of these three for these type of videos? I know the 6D would be excellent for planned out shots and video, but I am not sure about videos where you are constantly moving. Also, what software do you use to edit your videos? Thanks again for everything. I come from a photography background, but I have just started getting involved in video production. I appreciate any critique, suggestions, etc. :)
@lalalisa55879 жыл бұрын
+Explore With Us I also use a Canon 6D but just for my photography. I've never use the video on it. I have the GoPro Hero 4 (no zoom but fixed wide angle) and a Sony HD handheld camcorder. We purchased the Sony back in 2007 and it's still an awesome camera. As for video editing, I either use iVideo on my iMac or the GoPro video editing program. The GoPro editing software is free to download. Btw, I did noticed that when you're shooting in low light or dark areas (not sure which camera you were using), the camera goes in very slow motion. Does your new Panasonic have a built in light for night shots or darkness? If not, get you a big flashlight. I'm not an expert in video recorders by any means as I've only used video a few times (specifically Picher, Oklahoma using my GoPro). I'm more of a photography gal haha! I'm just giving pointers from a viewers perspective. I can definitely point you to some urban explorers on KZbin that are awesome if you're not following them already.
@ExploreWithUs9 жыл бұрын
+Lisa Tatum Exactly the same for me, my 6D is only used for photography, so I lug it around with me too. The Rebel is a back up. I have also not used it for much video. I do love it for taking photographs though. I only recently realized how much more information you can pack into a video over a photo though, so I have been slowly moving towards more videos. As you can tell, I have a long ways to go before I have any videos that I am actually proud of. This video was shot with a really cheap Canon Vixia HF R500 which I am now using only as a back up for the Panasonic. I was immediately unhappy with the Canon, but it was all I had to shoot the videos with at the time. Of course I can't just blame the camera as I am sure the majority of the problems are user error. I probably could have used some type of video editing program to stabilize it, but I am new to video editing. The new Panasonic has a built in light, which should really help in those low light conditions, and I did pick up some very high powered flash lights. I was using Sony Movie Studio Platinum, but I am trying to start using Adobe Premier Pro. I am not sure if there are other programs out there that may be better? I really do appreciate you taking the time to give me some pointers and feedback. As you can see, I can certainly use them. And it's always good to look at it from the viewers perspective because that's really all that matters. Eventually I will get better, thanks to good people like yourself who take the time to give me pointers. I can't thank you enough for the help. I would love to see your photography, do you have a link to any posted online?

But I've never seen anything like this or that other one you posted where it looks like they just up and left and didn't return. I would give some of my prized possessions to visit places like this. +CamSayCam Thanks for the feedback, and to be honest, I am embarrassed by my earlier videos. I am working hard at buying better equipment and gear and taking better videos. I also need to learn how to edit properly. I have over 2,300 current site locations to check out on BLM land that are abandoned. Some pan out, but many others are nothing but empty shacks. I spend many days out searching ever valley, road, trail, etc. It's a lot of fun. There is one that I want to get too but the road was too washed out from the storms, but I hope to get back there very soon. I really need a nice dirt bike to get to some of the places I have marked out on my map. I love all our public land in this state, so many amazing places to go. Being from California, I was use to being fenced out of everywhere. I love to explore, so after coming to Nevada and exploring the vast areas, I was instantly hooked and I cannot get enough! I have a bunch of footage from Tunnel Camp to edit and post, hopefully it will be superior quality to my other videos. Thanks again for watching and the offer for coordinates.

+Explore With Us you gotta be shittin' me. You mean Tunnel, which is by Vernon off of 7 troughs?? That's the town I was telling you about. Have you seen the safe that was washed out by the 1912 flood that killed something like 11 people? The make shift cemetery? Dude, I bet we would have a blast out there. My dad and I now bring my kids along with. I don't get to explore as much as I used to. Once maybe twice per year now. I'm also from California. Sacramento area. I've been going to this desert since 1985 when I was 4. I came across like as asshole on your video last week. I want to apologize. I have dirt bikes and my dad has a side by side quad aka Can-Am Commander. Mine are KLR 650's. Would you be interested in a group trip? We are very easy going people, we shoot too so we aren't the typical Californians. Mainly we explore though. I want to send you some print outs. How can I do that? Email?

+CamSayCam Yeah, that's the same one we just finished filming at. I have been there many times, but never took any video at night. It was a lot of fun. We also visited the cemetery at night too. We lived in Sacramento for a few years, in Citrus Heights, but originally lived in San Francisco. All of my family still resides in the Bay Area though. No worries on the other video comment, I really appreciate the apology. Heck yeah I would be interested in some group trips. Right now I explore with my wife and kids (but she has a broken leg and had to sit in the car at Tunnel camp), and always wished we would run into more people who enjoy exploring. It would be a blast to be able to hit the you guys. We should set something up when you get a chance. Can you message me your email on here? You wouldn't want to post it on here or the spammers will probably fill your inbox.

Kids, Stay in drugs. Don't do veggies. Eat your school. :)
I think the same thing when I see places like this .. What a shame.. Most people rre forced out of their homes for multiple reasons or so. Some even get angry enough to thrash the place and then there are times hhere homeless or teenage kids decide they want to be disrespectful jerks.

That was a Commodore part. An old company that made a computer gaming system that did digital gaming stuff. You controlled it with commands on the keyboard. I used to have a larger version. it had a col tanker game and like you literally typed in "fire" to shoot, or "jump" to jump. They had other makings like registers and tax calculators I believe. That looked like a tax calculator

Almost looks like an old ranch in Lovelock NV. Love your videos. I’m with the other posts though. You guys wear masks? Hantavirus is no joke.

really nice video, but was commodore not a video game console company from the 70's or 80's?

Commodore was a popular personal computer from the 80's. Ever heard of the "Commodore 64" ?

I think that was a Commodore calculator. They made those before the computers. Would love to have that!

I don't know if you noticed, but at 8 min 29 sec in as your looking into trailer, the building in the background behind it looks like a white figure is standing in doorway is watching you. Is that one of your crew members? I tried to freeze vid to take a pic but it's only for a second. 👀

No, usually it's easy to know if someone has been there by looking at the tell tell signs.

Or set up some kind of battery-powered projector with a motion sensor in front of a wall, and have it project a picture of Captain Howdy from the Exorcist when they walk in: scarina.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/face1.jpg
