I was a patient of this hospital in 1995. The reason for netting in the stairwell was to prevent patients from harming themselves or others. The base of the light fixture in the dinning room is a platter of fruit all carved from wood. Unfortunately you guys didn't pan the camera up for a good look at it. The kitchen on the first floor was a secondary one, the main kitchen was located in the cellar. There was also supposed to be an entrance to a secret tunnel which leads to John's Hopkins down there as well, though I cannot verify it's existence. When I was there all of the fireplaces and mirrors were covered up by wooden structures to protect them from damage. The sprinkler system was put in during the mansions construction. It is among the first buildings in america to have a system in place for fire prevention. The small building outside at the end of the video was used a an area for patients to have visits with friends and family. As well as a recreation area. The house next door was used for office space. From what I have heard some church acquired the property for a while, but it is now owned by the city of Baltimore. It saddens me to see it in such poor neglected condition, If I had the money I would restore to it's original purpose a family home.

I remember this place. Dan Bell was here before. To bad I can't warn you, There's a guy living in there. Dan went at night. He didn't hear any thing. but right by the first main staircase on left side if your facing it, there was someone by an open door. And you were able to see his shadow on the door. Dan didn't know till he got back and reviewed the tape. pretty scary. Needless to say, I was in complete panic mode while watching your video. I'm glad your safe. great video!!

@Parker Production,I don't know if this is the same place or not,but in the late '80s I delivered meds to the Gundry Childrens Center in Irvington (Baltimore).I remember climbing that old staircase a bunch of times.When I was delivering to them, they had between 16 and 24 kids there.Even back then it was kind of creepy.Dr.Gundry also was in charge of the psych ward on the 7th floor at what is now known as Harbor Hospital.7N had the adolescents and 7S had the adults IIRC.I delivered meds there as well. Fast forward to the late '90s-I was picking up some rugs from Dr.Gundry's residence located on a one lane road a stone's throw away from Spring Grove Hospital in Catonsville.This place was older than dirt with an equally as old caretaker living on the property.In front of the house was a '59 or '60 Cadillac that hadn't moved in years.Upon entering the house, above the mantle was a picture of that very car in that very place when it was new! The story was that Dr. Gundry bought it for his wife and when she passed away it was never driven again.I don't know if that's true or not.Sorry for rambling here,but this video just triggered some old memories.Thanks!

I'm a big fan Mr. Parker but a suggestion if your going to explore basements like above, some protective breathing stuff. Terrible fungus and other microflaura and fauna grow in these places with spores. I was sad to see you a bit ill. Your doing a great thing for my studies in decay and life and military science. Thank you and be well.

I really enjoy your videos more than many of the explorer videos out there. I appreciate that you both are respectful, mature, professional and don't curse. Plus, your both little cuties. As a mother, please don't walk towards the edge of a tall slanted roofs like that. I was having palpitations watching you walk down that. And, I know you are as sick of hearing about masks as much as you are probablt sick of hearing about Dan Bells video, But, listen to all of your concerned fans, If you don't wear masks and care about your health, one day you will wake up and have trouble breathing and it will just get worse each day, as if you are being strangled. Anyway, love your videos. Keep up the great work! Blessings to you both.

I like how you provide pictures of before/and talk about the history of places. Honestly it's amazing how many people create videos without providing actual information about the location. Without the history of a place to me the video isn't even worth watching... If you can, you should do a before and after pictures, taken from the same perspective... That would be so sweet. Keep it up!

when dealing with stained glass, also remember they use a very soft lead in between the colors that easiky makes its way into your system and can easily cause heavy metal poisoning...so if you go to places that has lots of it...gloves or hands off.. its one of the easiest ways to get lead poisoning
@stoots1000
@stoots1000 8 жыл бұрын
Ugh... My father worked for a company that made stained glass..this particular formulation of lead always has a fine film (powder) of the lead on it...it is very soft and is always "shedding" microscopic layers of it...so..touching this will absorb through your pores, AND can be inhaled..it will get on your skin and in your hair if you are around it lots..when your pores open when you sweat it is absorbed. The employees who installed this beautiful art had to tske cold showers before leaving work...cold showers to keep their pores closed and less risk of absorbsion.

Great video gentlemen, thanks. Hopefully, in the near future, the right person will aquire this property and sympathetically restore it to it's former glory. I believe it was built for Charles Joseph Baker, one of the Baker Brothers, who owned a successful glass company in Baltimore. Specializing in flat glass panels and window panes. That could explain the beautiful stained glass panels in the house. What background music did you use at 12:28, when you were on the roof? It's a nice, catchy melody.

I am sure that tank on the third floor is a cistern, used in 19th century plumbing to hold water to supply the old style chain pull toilets, and occasionally bathtubs. Those were hand pumped full once a week. If I'm right the weather vane is a combination Lightning rod and decorative wind direction Vane, those are extraordinarily rare, and can bring thousands of dollars and architectural salvage. Those ceramic cornice pieces are also worth a ton.

Hey Parker, you really should not go into a place that has black mold without a respirator. That basement was full of it. Exposure to black mold can cause chronic coughing and sneezing, irritation to the eyes, mucus membranes of the nose and throat, rashes, chronic fatique and persistent headaches. Clearly black mold or any mold exposure to your respiratory system is *not* good. Did you know that Dan Bell was in that same place? He captured shadow figures in his video. Great video.. you're getting better to be sure.

Nice work, as always; Parker. Beautiful is not enough to describe this place, even though it's left and forgotten. Despite the history of it, it's trashed, and that's sad. At least no one's ripped out the wood and copper....yet. I hope it stays that way as long as it can, and safe from vandals. But that't just a matter of time before the scumbags tear it apart, sadly.

Found it. It's a version of 'Sunny Side of the Street', originally from a Seeburg vinyl.

To all of the people who always say "Somebody should restore these places" I say, why don't you do it? Why is it always someone else? Maybe they aren't restored because it isn't economically feasible or there is no use for them. Or maybe there are entangled legal issues involved. I would like to see them saved too but I'm not in a position to do it so I don't expect someone else to do it.
