I love and appreciate your passion for history’s preservation, restoration and education. It’s absolutely way. These videos SHOULD be trending!

These last few videos about the Redwood Highway are among my wives favorite. As a little girl in the 50's and 60's she lived in different places around those areas. Also, as an adult she lived in Ukiah and other communities there. They brought back many pleasant memories for her. Thank You. Jerry

Thank you VERY much for taking the time and effort to bring back pieces of history in a modern format. Your videos are well scripted, edited and very informative. We feel like you provide us an opportunity to travel, see and learn all from the comfort of our home. Your videos inspire viewers to get out and see the wonders of the open road for themselves. Your passion and enthusiasm are awesome and contagious.

Justin you are truly the reincarnation of Huell Howser. The amount of work, heart and soul you put into your vlogs is a credit to your character and work ethic that I’ve only seen anywhere from Huell and his California’s Gold Adventures. You may call it RandomLand but to me each piece is far from random. Each is brilliantly written, creatively filmed and edited and worthy of exposure to The widest audience possible. You do so much more extensive research than other vloggers that it shows in entertaining, educational and plain old fun pieces. Please keep up the good work and do more stuff up here in Northern California. Live in the San Jose area and would love to see you in the Bay Area, Monterey, Yosemite, etc. Thanks again for what you do. You make me smile and remember Huell but that you have the future of “RandomCalifornia”.

You drove right past our family home property and family redwood grove between Phillipsville and Miranda. We love going back on vacation we were there a month ago. It sure has changed since we moved in the early 2000. Thanks for the visit and sharing of your visit.

When I first moved to Humboldt County (late sping of 2001), I lived at the south end of the Avenue of the Giants in between Chimney Tree and Phillipsville in a redwood cabin which was part of a group of cabins built back in the 1930's as road side fishing cabins. They are right across the road from the Eel river, and there are large number of old growth (500 years and older) redwood trees all around them. Used to eat Chimney Tree as often as I could afford to (they had Great burgers!). I moved to Eureka a few years later.

Really enjoying following along on my map as I watch. And remembering a particular road trip our family took through there, camping as we went: two adults, 3 teens and one pre-teen. And this was before Prozac or Xanax!

I've been loving these videos. Growing up, our family would take a week long road trip and we always ended up in the redwoods. I love the Skunk, although we always grabbed it from Fort Bragg to Willits, not the other way. My favorite camp ground is Grizzly Creek near Cheatham Grove, famous for the filming of that famous movie from the 80's, "Blue Harvest." You know the one. Thanks for these. I've been stuck at home all summer and this looks like the closest thing we're getting to a vacation this year. Cheers! Justin Jennings

Also stop by Humboldt Redwoods Interpretive Visitor Center. It is part gift shop part museum it has CHARLES KELLOGG’S TRAVEL LOG “where Charles Kellogg turned a hollow giant redwood into a traveling cabin on wheels ( an early RV) he built a kitchen, lockers, beds, dining table, it had a dresser, electric lights, running water, and even a guest room. After WW2 he used it too travel around the US too promote the preservation of California’s giant Coastal Redwoods and the fledgling Save the Redwoods League.”

Re. Hobbiton USA! A documentary came out in 2004 called "Ringers: Lord of the Fans" about the Tolkien fandom, and one of the segments shows off Hobbiton USA and talks to the then-current owner. It shows some of the statuary and even has a little bit of the tour audio! Worth a look if you can find a copy of the DVD! EDIT: P.S., love your channel! My mom discovered it, and she made a KZbin account just so she could subscribe. Then I subscribed too! We love watching your videos together. Keep up the awesome work!

It was a different era, but I'd rather see the tree than the One Log House. In that same era people thought it would be a good idea to cut down the most massive tree in what became Big Trees State Park, just to see if they could. By the way, if you haven't been to Big Trees, you should. Really impressive trees.

i live here and see it all the time and my dad went and saw the hobbit trail back in 1988 when he was a kid and we found a vhs tape that shows the hobbit trail in its prime and it was almost lost the place closed in 1995 cuz a rainy winter made the river rise and part of the trail slid into the river suposedly multable statues were washed away in the river and a dragon statue on the river bar burned or something and was a "burnt blob" for a while the trial had speakers and audio and stuff im not sure i can release the footage tho
