Karen Boyd the transoms were used as part of a natural cooling system...when opened opposite an open window the warm room air , at the top of the room , naturally flows from the room and pulls the cooler outside air in.

That motorcycle had me stumped because my dad has owned multiple Yamaha Virago's over the years, but I've never seen one that looks like that. Turns out it has a rare optional "X-1" fairing. Looks goofy af to me. One of those things that's rare for a reason.

This really made me sad. It's so far gone to be abandoned 10 years ago. Do you ever Google the names when you have them, to see if you can find news articles for more of the story? Maybe they were all killed in a car accident...so many possibilities. Just sad
@85Studios7 жыл бұрын
I don't think he wants us to know the names of the people for privacy reasons. Yes it would be cool to have more backstory on them, but the reason why all of the names end up blurred out is because of harassment and privacy. If you disclose too much information then all of the little trolls out there are going to pick on the people and look them up and contact them and a lot of people just want to be left alone. Imagine if you ended up abandoning a house due to it's poor condition and then all of a sudden you get a bunch of people trying to contact you about something you lost and it just makes you feel horrible because it was a chapter in your life where you basically just had to abandon everything you knew and loved and start over because of financial or other troubles. not a good talking point for most. I know the feeling after a series of very unfortunate events some of my family members had to abandon a property and move on. To be called and reminded of the situation by non-official or business contacts would be something upsetting. it is almost like harassment It's just a place in your life you would almost rather just forget and move on from, but you can't because it is a scar deeply ingrained in your memory you have to deal with every day anyway, but then you have people calling you, messaging you and texting you about it asking questions for their own information when no action is required from you. You just want to be left alone so that you can move on and live your life. that's about the extent of it. SO yes I can see why names addresses etc. are being withheld. That and addresses are being withheld because of Vandals and thieves. if some people see something on the video they like and want to steal it, and the address is available you would be surprised what lengths some people would go to to go get that item, steal it and either keep or sell it for money. Bear in mind there are also relatives of these people even though the original people have been gone for 10 or more years. the relatives could end up in a search and harassed as well.
@MarjiFranklin7 жыл бұрын
85 Studios I'm not wanting to contact these people not have him share their information. My curiosity was I wonder if he ever researches a place to see what he can find. I never said contact anyone. Just curious what the story is. Thanks for making me sound like a jerk troll. so sick of people reading into comments.
@85Studios7 жыл бұрын
I wasn't referring to you specifically, I was just trying to be somewhat helpful and answer your question as to why he does not generally disclose this information and the reason is because people will abuse that information and use it for reasons it should not be used for. I wasn't saying you specifically.. I haven't lost all faith in humanity or anything, I know there are still some people out there who are just curious or whatever, but because of the bad ones you kinda have to not disclose certain things to the public. that's all I was saying.

I noticed that the house had no hallways; one room led to another and even the stairs to the second floor went directly into a room. I'm guessing that hallways were considered wasted space.---From the look of the different kinds of stone I'm thinking that the secondary building with furniture in it may have been raised a bit. Hard to get a sense of the house before it was vandalized but even though it was never fancy or elaborate it was a very good, functional house.

If you want to show a negative or a slide to the camera, put the flashlight _behind_ the negative not in front.
@85Studios7 жыл бұрын
you are right. best to bring the Negative close to the lense also so that it can come somewhat close to full screen. Then edit the darkness/lightness in post maybe. Contrast. I do a lot of Post editing because it is just a nightmare with lighting on the fly and that kind of thing. I found that lit is so much easier to darken a bright scene than to lighten a dark scene because when you try to lighten a scene which is too dark you get color and hue splotches everywhere. out of control pixels. you can clip them, but then you have black holes. what a mess. I love working with Audio.. so much easier. I like editing though because it is a challenge and the possibilities are endless. you can make quite a mess if you mess it up, but you can make usable video out of a mess as well if you know what you are doing.
@erkkieras-jorma18147 жыл бұрын
Flashlight is not good for that. It's too bright and light beam isn't enough smooth. I would say best way to watch negatives is put them against window. That sunlight what comes outside is smooth and you can see pictures quite sharp.

Was there a part of that house you didn't/couldn't get to? I never saw a bathroom, which, needless to say, is a little troubling, lol.
@85Studios7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if this is old enough to have an outhouse or not, but that might be the case. Sometimes outhouses and latrines would crumble before the rest of the house and structure or if the property was abandoned sometimes the outhouse would be removed and the latrine filled in. It could also be that the bathroom was not possibly accessible though.

I noticed a few things that could help date age of the house. It was lathe and plaster. Had wide real wooden base boards. Transom windows. Full length windows. Lovely old trim work on outside of windows. AT one time it would have been a very nice house. Hard to believe that someone lived there in 2006. Normally when the state puts a road in they declare Eminent Domain, and houses are destroyed. Kinda strange how close to the road it is. Looks to have been a good sized farm, with buildings on both sides of the road. So maybe they deeded right of way for the road.

So, seems like Sergeant was a farmer too. For some reason he just left everything behind without selling or taking with him even the necessary stuff for farmers occupation (such as tractor and truck). This time, I was not nervous at all because of the knowledge that you don't pack any heat. Not one of your most frightening nor most dangerous explores. I bet you parked your car somewhere nearby. NEVER leave it unlocked in trips like these! The condition of abandoned houses (and this was no exception) tells us how much people can be trusted these days if something is apparently without owner.

I, also, cannot understand how people can go in and vandalize a place like this. Also, seems as if the furniture was left, and people came in and dumped the contents out so they could take the furniture. That a lot of the mess of stuff you see all over the place.
