I have lived in Donelson my entire life. And I know about the history .this store. It opened between 1968 and 1971. When it open. There was only one other fast food restaurant in Donelson. It was a family owned drive-in. Called Hearts Delight. After the pandemic hit. They Never had enough people To run the restaurant. It was only open limited hours. And never really recovered..

I have good memories of my grandmother taking me there. We lived in Hermitage back in the 80’s and we would go to that location or Rivergate. Rivergate location has been closed for years.

This Krystal closed down because of poor service. I live right behind this store and by looking through the review section of Nashville's worst restaurants this one was pretty much at the bottom of the list.

Hated to see this Krystal close. So many memories of that store. My grandfather used to take us there whenever we went to visit with him back in the 70's. When I moved to the Donelson area in the 80s, my girlfriend and I would eat there often. My son and I LOVE Krystals and would usually pick up a 24 pack and eat them all day. Only bad after effect was his gas... He would run me out of the house!

I moved in the Port RIchey area of Florida, close to Hudson, in 2012 and there used to be an abandoned building nearby that was demolished and is now the location of a Waffle House. For the longest time, I couldn't figure out what the building used to be. I couldn't make out what the label scar was. Now that I've seen the facade of this building and the label scar, I now know that the abandoned building that was in my area used to be a Krystal! The exterior of the building had the same colors and characteristics as this one. So thanks for this video! It's a shame it closed. I would've like to have tried them out, as I've never eaten at a Krystal. I have eaten at White Castle, which I hear is similar to Krystal, in that they sell small burgers (AKA sliders.) I love me some White Castle burgers, so I have a feeling I'd like Krystal burgers. I wonder why the location in my area closed.

First, your video quality is OUTSTANDING. What are you using? second, Nashville or "greater Nashville" has been a metropolitan city since about 1964, it is a COUNTYWIDE city government with a bunch of incorporated little Hamlets/Boros (southern term) inside it. Belle meade, Berry Hill, Forrest Hills are NOT in the city, but have representatives at most things nashville. Inglewood is now INSIDE the core area, places like DONELSON are out in the GENERAL SERVICES AREA, hence no city trash pickup or street light program to amount to much ... so, TECHNICALLY, you are in nashville in the DONELSON AREA. Lebanon Pike and McGavock Pike are technically the ground zero of OLD DONELSON. Third, Krystals are traditional old navy "sliders" which came out of the country of Belgium, and hamburgers were NOT an american invention. So if you've had a white castle, you've had a slider. Krystal hamburgers were founded in chattanooga TN, and their nashville headquarters were out on 8th avenue south (melrose) across from the mcdonald's a few years ago they bull dozed it and i think put up a chicFEESlay. That area is now gentrified 😮, so there you go. They once had the best cheap but quality coffee in town, severed in a heavy mug. The 8th ave Krystal had the most IMPRESSIVE CLIENTELE at one time. You just name it, and some of the most important movers and shakers huddled at that place. The most expensive call girls were dropped off and picked up at that Krystal (a well-kept nashville secret). 😮 Meanwhile ... the fries used to be served in something the size and shape of a mini shoebox. Back in the 1960s, they cost you about 15 cents packed full. The hamburgers were about 20 cents. You could get "five gut bombs for a buck." 😂😂 they had great chili until the 1970s when they started going downhill. Mcdonalds had just built its first one right around that time (it was a walk-up), and so Krystal started raising its price and lowering its quality and ignoring their workers. If you've seen "happy days," Krystal as a "hamburger hangout" was just a notch above that type, it was dine-in (old diner style and chrome and black and white with bar stool seats some tables but a hole in the wall), the drive-in burgers like shoney's (aka like a bobs big boy) kicked in a few death nails on the Krystal coffin. Gonna check out your channel because lots of folks do good stories, but their auto focus is always searching in the shots. BTW, i saw on your video the POS MONITOR with the power on, so it looks like it had full building power. Keep in mind that DONELSON is on the traditional tornado train track, that may be the roof issue, OR THE AC might be on the roof overflowing the condensation pan, because the drive thru window is open sucking in moist outside air. Good luck, MAKE MORE VIDEOS. 😊

Have you done the old Hickory Hollow mall in Antioch? It's been closed for years, but the anchor stores are mostly re-purposed. I've heard that the food court is still open. That area used to be all big retail stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. In the strip by the Zaxby's, there was a place called Courtyard Cafe where Phil Vasser(sp?) played every weekend for years before he got famous.

So let’s set the record straight. They went out of business after Covid because they couldn’t hire any staff and the staff they had did not want to work. I know because I used to eat there. The building needs a lot of work inside the kitchen to make it a functional restaurant and the people that are trying to lease. It are asking way too much money. As a restaurant owner, I estimate it will take at least $50,000 just to get it to where you can open. Could be more could be a little bit less because I’ve not gone inside. I just called and inquired about it to open another location. Abandoned it wasn’t.very few crystals and even fewer white castles are around because they were overpriced for what you were getting and again the service absolutely is deplorable.
