Thanks bro for showing this! Lake opened in 1971, it's purpose to integrate students from all races and cultures in the city and to allow for different areas of education from engineering to various trades. It had daycare, a green house, auto-mechanics, masonry, electrical, drivers ed, 2 full gymnasiums, a pool and a beautiful auditorium. With a enrollment of close to 5000, it had somewhat of a college atmosphere. I graduated from Lake in 1975, the second graduating class there and witnessed the potential of this school first hand! In my honest opinion I think that the city officials at that time were cowards who were only interested in their own ambitions. THEY FUCKIN' DROPPED THE BALL ON MY SCHOOL WHICH IS WHY IT WAS ABANDONED! It was a damn shame that they didn't have the guts to save something that could have been a beacon for our city of Baltimore. We even tried to save it ourselves at one time doing fundraisers and beautification projects WITHOUT THE CITY'S HELP! Bottom line is, they sold the school and land to Morgan State University and now we are struggling to save whatever artwork and memorabilia we can to preserve our history! If you want to follow up on what the plans are for the future you can hit me up here or my alumni president here who's name is Richard McCoy. Again thanks for showing this! LAKER FOR LIFE!

My old High School...class of 97. You have the best footage of all the youtubers that took footage of the school after. You catch a glimpse of what it used to look like when i went there. Before they stripped everything in your end footage

This video is one of my favourites of yours, the smooth panning and walking, with low jog, the colour balance is very natural, the real-time commentary is educated and excellent. A second, ten-fifteen minute version of this with the best bits would definitely bring in more viewers to your channel. I think this is the definitive video of coverage on this school.

Fellow lake Clifton alumni here 🐬💛 just wanted to note…most of the artwork you seen on the walls were drawn and painted by students who took that art class including myself. 😂😭 but watching this video is really breaking my heart to see the high school I once loved abandon, burned and submerged in water 😢 all we have now are the memories we’ve made here…C/O 15!

I'm truly amazed at the waste that is constantly seen here in the US. I cannot understand how there isn't money in a budget to hire a few people to keep these buildings secure until viable repurposing. Truly a sad system we are in and we wonder why there is such national debt and imbalances.

That what Baltimore city does they close schools and combine them causing overcrowding all for the money. I went to Eastern High in 84 , they said attendance was low but it wasn’t, they said they wanted it for Memorial stadium parking the last graduating class from Eastern was 86 , we had to go to different high schools around the city most of us went to Lake Clifton. Eastern set vacant for years and the city ended up building The Ravens Stadium downtown all for the money. The city doesn’t care about the kids . Lake Clifton was a school ahead of its time . I bet if it was a predominantly YT school and in a YT neighborhood it would have remained opened .

Right, they have all of their Schools or a better version. All true

Wow. With a campus that big and in such (mostly) good shape they could have turned it into a college.

Then again, after seeing it in 2023 I take that back. What a waste of tax payer money.

My school, i graduated in 1988. This school also had a daycare when i was there. The original library had two levels before the a fire in 98 or 99. You guys missed the second gym. That side you were in was considered the girl side. FYI Morgan State University has purchased the property

So in the end, you were trespassing. (You weren't arrested, rather you were detained).

The gates are used to close off part of the building, the school had so many doors you could still skip if you got passed the security guards please don’t make it seem like it was a prison because it wasn’t, alumni class of 87 . I went to Lake after my school Eastern High closed after the graduating class of 86 . Lake was huge and I never got to see the whole building, it was a great school and the teachers were wonderful. They made us feel welcome .

I never saw it as a prison. My school had the same gates but I never saw them used so had no idea what the purpose was

there's no way in hell I'd send my child to a school with barred windows and latches on the outside of doors. Very creepy.

I Explored that place about 5 months ago. The old science wing smelled like pure Natural gas. Was surprised to see a good chunk of the facility that wasn’t vandalized. Damn shame to see such a nice facility sitting to waste.. no power at my visit (May 2023)
