We explore the abandoned home of Lucien Lambert, a French screenwriter, who was robbed of his Hollywood recognition…
Lambert’s passion and career was in writing, he wrote many scripts throughout his life but it was in 1982 when he would write ‘Emilie’.
In 1991, Claude Zidi releases the hit film ‘La Totale!’ which turns out to be a plagiarised version of ‘Emilie’, yet Lambert never watches the film and is completely unaware.
Zidi later sells the rights for the film on to Titanic director, James Cameron and in 1994 he releases the remake ‘True Lies’, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
It brought in 378 million dollars worldwide, becoming the third-highest-grossing film of 1994, behind The Lion King and Forrest Gump. This put 15 million dollars into Zidis pocket.
Lambert, getting no credit for his work on either accounts, finally find out and his battle with Hollywood began, he loses the first case as he’s unable to prove when his script was written.
French actress Sylvie Jolie eventually stepped forward with evidence that the script had been sent to her in the 80’s and the court finally ruled in Lamberts favour.
He received an undisclosed chunk of the 15 million dollars that went to Zidi.
Lambert’s many movie scripts remain scattered throughout his mansion which now sits abandoned in the center of a quaint French village.
He passed away in 2005 at the age of 86. Although he received money for his work, his name will always be missing from the credits of those movies.

His story is just one of the reasons why I boycott evil and corrupt Hollywood. Thanks for paying respects to this man, his work and his beautiful home ❤️

Accept that James Cameron probably bought the rights in good faith, not realising that Claude Zidi's La Totale! had plagiarised Emilie.

It's heartbreaking 💔 to see paperwork, his movie 🎬 scripts and family photos just strewn everywhere throughout this home. At one time it was a home of love, family , art . So sad to see it looted and damaged. I really hope the French historical society would come in and turn it into a place where public to tour and proceeds to be given to new artists and writers. Instead of rotten away including moldy food everywhere, no one cared 💔😥. Love Sam & Jess channel thanks to taken us back in time. ❤️😁

I have really enjoyed this explore, the painted ceilings are absolutely delightful! The black and white photos were very glamorous! I love a place that can show you a real glimpse of the past and the kind of life the homeowners had. Thank you Sam and Jess for another excellent explore! Xx

Hi Jess and Sam! Oh, I really enjoy the music at the end. Very fitting that was an extraordinary house. I’m guessing maybe 18th century with all the outbuildings. I love the architecture and history all the history. Makes me so sad to think of his work, just laying there in family pictures. To think at one time that house thrived. With perhaps actors, floating in and out discussing new Scripts. You really opened up a little time capsule there. Thank you guys for a great walkabout. 🤗🤟🏻🤗🇺🇸

I always get the impression that utube is aimed at a young audience people in their twenties .Therefore the ghost channels seem to do extremely well .Young people clambering around in a disgustingly filthy falling down building .Asking if there's anybody there. I absolutely love Sam and Jess but they will struggle against the former competition.

Love the music, great video! That poor man, Hollywood has been a rip off for many writers. I remember when "True Lies" came out. Never saw it but it got favorable reviews. Lambert's home was must have been a wonderful place to grow up in! I noticed there weren't any photos of his wife in later years. She must have passed before him. He looked like a happy man, you did a wonderful job exploring his home. Thank you Sam and Jesse for taking us on this fabulous tour.

I wonder why the child, who would be in their late forties now, doesn't at least take photo albums and memorabilia of her father's life work etc? The house looked loved by the family, l wonder what happened to the daughter or son for them not to return to save a lot of belongings? I really like the painted ceilings and the whole house really. Well done!🦘🤔🤗

This was an interesting place with lots of hints of the writer and his wife within. I found the attic, top floor very mysterious, it was a huge and lovely space, but only a few signs of the previous owners but clues to very different people… curious. Great place ❤

Hi guys!!!! I absolutely love your videos!!! I wonder if anyone has tried to track down his family to show them this and find out why the house was left with all the contents? I wish something could be done to salvage this home, these scripts, notes, photos should be in a museum or a place that will celebrate Mr Lambert...

The woodwork on these pieces is utterly amazing in its intricate carved form and the different wallpaper designs in all the rooms just blows me away! I'm flabbergasted to say the least! Sometimes people don't get the recognition they deserve and they feel that no amount of money can make up for it.

Hi Sam and Jess .Good to see you both Missed live but I can never keep up with it anyway. Love that music at the beginning accompanying voice over. Sad he didn't get acclaim for his films .But maybe acclaim doesn't matter because you know you've succeeded and that's the important thing Good the house isn't wrecked too much .Strange the way people just disappear leaving everything behind. So they get a takeaway and just take off before finishing it Amazing places you two find.Such an interesting house and such an amazing man who lived there Thankyou so much for showing me .I still keep a photo album .you two start doing it then you won't forget or be forgotten.
