Take the time to decide, the bear you shot at, did you wound it, any blood how much plan your exploration and what it is for before setting off. Each new area explored set a small base, so if unable to get back to your big base this makes you less reliant on one base.

Yeah I've got to work on having a couple little areas with stashes rather than just the one ^^
