There are so many abandoned and neglected children in the world…glad you are trying to help them…2005 I adopted a child, a 6 year old little girl, from an orphanage in Russia, she had been in orphanages all her life….it was heart wrenching to see she had never been in a home before in her life, never had a present before in her life, never had anything she could call her very own ( everything at the orphanage, including the clothes, belonged to the orphanage and nothing to the children), but the hardest thing to see was that she had never been loved before…no one in her little life was ‘her person’ to love and care about her……it took her awhile to get her use to being cared about but worth it……the orphanage was a difficult place to see…so many children there…kids actually came up to me in the hallway anspd said, “you take me home? Please!”…..I wish I could have found homes for all of them…an experience I’ll never forget!

Most people that can foster don't want to have to go to classes to foster someone. Since they have raised their own children. But it's mandatory to do thar.

My mom who is 98 years old now gave birth to 16 children . When I was ten my father was killed by a drunk driver . Mom was devastated, she had 5 young children at that time. We had to move from our home , dad was a veteran so mom and all of us survived on his benefits . A few years later Mom chose to foster a teen age girl , around my age , she lived with us for about three years . Though it was a rough time my mother showed love to that girl who had a terrible life before and I got my ninth sister...Fostering is about sharing the love we all have in our hearts to give . In a family of 16 kids/adults we did it and so can you , just open your heart and see what a difference it can make. 💗

Sadly my husband was a victim of the foster care system in Michigan, he told me the horrors he faced being the oldest son placed in a system that tossed him from one home to another while having him on depression meds that he never should have been on. When i met him his mom who managed to get him and his sister back after 8 months of that hell, she simply told me thank you for giving her son a light of joy in his life as he was contemplating ending it all. That scar has never truly healed but he has become more receptive of possibly helping with foster care kids after our own kids grow up alittle, most foster family will take the kid just for the money and let them starve til passing onto the next family.
@famlbk7 күн бұрын
Some do for the money. Others like my cousin lovingly fostered kids that to this day years lster still call her mom. She also made sure other kids in town had clothing. She also made a quilt for each baby born at the local hospital. There are more examples in the comments here.
@dianegroves11417 күн бұрын
@famlbk So true about some who want to foster for the money. As most parents know, parenting can be challenging. I took the intensive foster parenting classes only to discover that 100% of my black classmates did NOT want black children in a white foster household. I had to respect their opinion and not foster as the majority in the 2 county area were black. The rules on foster parenting are VERY STRICT. Just my .2 cents.

Didn't think today's episode would bring tears to this old man's eyes, but it did. There's an old saying, "Educate them now or jail them later". I would add, " love and guide them while they're young, so they don't make bad choices later on". Child abuse isn't just limited to foster care, there are many toxic parents out there. Hats off to good foster parents who love and care, God bless you all.

So happy there are some organizations out there like this. I wish I could help, but I'm disabled. When my grandkids dad was killed, they set up a Go Fund Me... but of course the money never went to the kids or our daughter. Yes, it was stolen. I've spent my life trying to help them and many others. It's glorious to see that there is hope for these kids, because even though my grandkids lost their dad... they had a dad and mom who loved them to the moon and back. It sucks to be abandoned... trust me. I'm grateful to see organizations like yours and others that help people, instead of hurt them.

Becoming foster parents at that stage in life shows such a deep commitment to making a difference, and the fact that those foster kids came back to honor your dad speaks volumes about the impact he and your mom had on their lives. It’s stories like this that remind us of the power of love and kindness to change lives, even in the hardest circumstances. I've only worked with kids who are in residential treatment, parent's rights permanently removed due to abuse, with their options being therapeutic foster care and eventually adoption. Having seen, over the 2 summers i worked in that setting, the ones who came back after either the foster or adoptive family failing them, i love that there's an organization like this to offer support and love. ❤❤ Thanks for what you do!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for the work you’ve done with children in residential treatment. It’s heartbreaking to witness children face such significant challenges, especially when foster or adoptive placements fall through. These kids deserve so much more stability and love than what life has handed them. At Love For a Child, we’re committed to stepping into those gaps to provide the support, care, and consistency that so many children in foster care need. We believe every child deserves to feel valued, loved, and seen, and it’s stories like yours that remind us why this work is so important. Thank you for your kind words and for being someone who has been part of these kids’ journeys. Your heart for children truly shines through. ❤❤

@loveforachild although it won't be on giving Tuesday, because of upcoming back surgery hidden costs and other medical bills, rest assured there will be a donation as soon as possible! Also, do y'all serve in Texas?

I Love this idea. I don't have much, I'm on a fixed income, stage 4 cancer but I plan on contributing to this cause. First because I have a Love for children and 2nd because I believe in Midlife Stockman. Your work in the communities, as I tune in, it relaxes me, it fills my heart with joy to watch your humbleness and Love just to help others, strangers you don't even know, just because. I'm In 🥰
