I remember it well , I was there on the first day of the opening in the late 80s. It only open on the weekends. As the years go by, it was sold to foreign ownership & open everyday. After a while...they closed it down & was sold as prime real estate for industrial area. Good job guys.
@pentergraph5 жыл бұрын
What you are looking at is the remnants of hanabarberra land, which was the first part of the park closed, before the rest closed down, so I’m not surprised these are still here and long forgotten about..the paddle boats and the boats from the flume ride, the bricks and the flint stones rides, the rubble is various houses and parts of the mini bush beast. The rest was buried as the wood had a highly toxic chemical in it to prevent rot, and to stop people pinching parts of the coaster. The slides are from the water park and some from dastardly and muttleys slide fun house. The water valves were the supply for the waterfall in front of the space probe.

Who agrees that more could of been done to save it!! It was the best theme park. If those high end boss's got off their bums from the computer and did more in the park maybe it would be saved

Yes I firmly agree,more could have been done to save Australia's Wonderland theme park,maybe it was an old outdated theme park,but it was it was a wonderful theme park from all wonders of life to visit,we need to keep these theme parks open for the next generation of kids and adults to visit.Australia really needs its theme parks open to stay in the game.Written by a fan who has been Australia's wonderland as a kid,now all see is rubble everywhere!!

Business is business. The property owners are fully entitled to yield the maximum value and profit from the subsequent property sale and redevelopment. @@user-kc1tf7zm3b True; but as someone who worked at the theme parks on the gold coast many years ago I can tell you that the parks there were the same, they always complain that the park was doing poorly in profit they were never happy, and it was sold a couple of times.

My childhood has been left lying to rot in a huge field... I remember the last time I went there, I almost went on every ride except the Space Probe. The Bush Beast was so rickety and rough I could feel all my bones rattling and I ended up with bruises on my butt lol. The Demon was super scary and fast but fun. Our family was not very well off when we were kids, so going here was a really special treat. RIP Wonderland.

You can thank the KZbin algorithm for serving this up to me, Phil. It's so sad to see all the remnants of Wonderland just strewn around. It's like they just left in a hurry, and just left everything behind. I never went there, but when I was a teenager, we did drive past there quite a few times going to visit relatives out that way.

Such a shame to see the history of such a great local theme park for me end up like this. If ran correctly Wonderland Sydney could have very well still been open and expanding today, but with Sunway's greed for a quick buck what little is left of the park is left slowly rotting away in a field forgotten by time and the people of Sydney.

So many memories. I went on my first roller coaster in Wonderland. Sydney just isn't the same without it. I also went on that flinstones part of the park, there was a short water/coaster type ride for younger kids, i think the white slide looking parts may be part of the ride, the boat just near it too.

6:45. I think that is ‘Ned Kelly’s Getaway’. That slide would get the rider air as it was an almost vertical drop. There were plastic things you would sit on to ride down the slide and then skim to the end.

that concrete shed with all the pipes etc was wonderlands way they used those to pump water in for the snow river rapids and also i know something as well about wonderland due to my dad had to work there when they pulling it down. When it came to snowy river rapids they only knocked down the BIG green wheel that was used as the station for the rapids but the concrete foundation itself for the rapid's is still there today they filled it in with soil and leveled it off so if you went out there and remember exactly where the rapids was with a shovel it would be easy to find but half of it is under a industrial building the other half is not there a little tip if anyone like to find it its still all there but just been filled in :) :)

I thought it had all been turned into an industrial park. Brings back memories of driving to Sydney early on Canberra Day which would be Monday second week of March and having the place virtually to ourselves along with hundreds of other Canberra number plates in the car park. We would ride on everything, but particularly the Bush Beast roller coaster and the Murray River Rampage until we were thoroughly sick of it all. The Murray River Rampage killed those poor families in the Gold Coast. It had been relocated from Wonderland along with a lot of other run down equipment. Bargain basement and deadly.
