Its a shame the Mayor is not interested in protecting and the upkeep of her cities heritage, soon there will be no reminders of this once amazing railway network built by the cities ancestors .... she probable doesn't even know it exists...and is more interested in a modernised city, than one that founded our nation

Thanks for this, it was excellent - informative and well-produced. Many years ago, visiting Sydney, I was having a coffee in the "tea rooms" carriage parked at the Mortuary Station platform, when a 48 emerged from the goods line to join the other lines at Central. So, I have actually seen the line in action.

I love how Sydney decided we needed a Frank Gehry building to show how hip and unique we are... which would have been the case if we had it built in the 1970s.

Been through there, with the now closed but hoping it will re-open Power house museum, its not a bad little walk and links up nicely to the rest of Sydney

The signal box levers should have been protected from the weather after the destruction of the signal box itself. They are so badly rusted now that that they will not last for future generations to see . This is not how a vulnerable historic artifact should be treated ! A similar situation exists at the former Ropes Creek Station , now called Ropes Crossing . The continuation of this walk , to the left of the tunnel leads to Charmers Street , Surry Hills , at the far side of Central Station , mostly by pedestrian tunnels , so that in its entirety , is quite a brilliant concept !

Annoyingly this building and the library was getting built when I studied Business at UTS so never got to experience it..
