Abandoned Pizza Hut - Poland, OH

It's sad that most of the old Pizza Huts are either abandoned or housing other local businesses. Some sadly enough have been back hoed. The thing that I remember most fondly of the old Pizza Huts is two basic things. One is the songs that I first heard on the juke box, including the Rolling Stones "Shaddered". The way Mick Jagger sings in that song made me laugh my socks off. Ironically, I also fondly remember the Early American mate's chairs. I always looked at those iconic dining chairs as an essential part of the original decor along with the red checkered tablecloths etc. Though chairs are meaningless to others, the Early American mate's chair to me is very iconic and striking because of it's "guitar shaped" solid wood seat. I noticed the guitar shaped seat the first time I sat in one of those chairs as a six year old child. I climbed up into it, gripping the seat by the edges. That's when I noticed the in-curves that give the mate's chair seat the guitar shape. That's why I look at the mate's chair like one would look at a "Christine" car. Christine is Stephen King's demonic '57 Plymouth Fury. I personally look at the guitar shaped solid wood seat the way one would look at Christine's tail fins. I also admire the ornate spindles, the ornate lathe work in the legs and cross members, and the curved and scolloped back rail, which to me is very elegant. For the second period that Pizza Hut had the mate's chairs in their old restaurants, 1976-'84, I dream that Pizza Hut's second stint with the mate's chairs was the work of Christine. I dream that it was Christine who brought them back during early morning hours. She pulled in, pulled her starboard side up to the customer entrance, and used her supernatural powers to unlock and open the door. Then the other chairs inside scooted out from under the tables simultaneously, as the mate's chairs started floating in mid air out of Christine's starboard side, from her cabin into the Pizza Hut dining room, placing under the tables. Around my dining table at home, I have four mate's chairs that closely resemble the ones that Pizza Hut twice had. Mine are finished in oak, while the ones that Pizza Hut had were finished in dark walnut. I also have a red checkered tablecloth to go with the mate's chairs. I've had them for over 30 years, and they're still in good shape. The reason, I've always sat in 'em with proper posture, hips to the spindles!!!! I never lean back on two legs, never slouch in 'em, and never push 'em out from under the table with all of my weight on 'em. If anything was to happen to those chairs, I'd be just as heartsick as Arnie was when Reperton and his good buddies trashed Christine.

So in case you don't know Pizza Hut has closed all dine in locations. This was decided about a year before COVID. Most of the time they leave the building completely and open up in smaller spaces near by. However, I have seen a few that stayed operating in the bigger buildings but removed all tables and chairs and moved the pick up counter into the middle of the former dining room. It looks very odd lol

The one Pizza Hut/Wingstreet in Stow closed at least a year ago at the intersection of Fishcreek Rd. and Kent Rd. Me and my buddy hit up that one after one hell of a finals week and I just remember HOGGIN and the waitress was super nice. Then it closed like a few weeks later out of nowhere. I believe it's still empty too. Rest in power Pizza Hut 🤜🤛

There's a Pizza Hut Express near my place and I'll say this. Their prices are ridiculous. A large pizza runs close to $20+tip. Of course, additional toppings at extra cost. I walked out...Went to the Aldi down the block. Got a similar sized frozen supreme pizza with a six pack of Mexican beer for about $12 plus change. It's no wonder those restaurants and eateries are closing in record numbers.

The reason why you might be finding all of these closed Pizza Huts Wallie is because one of Pizza Huts biggest franchisers filed for bankruptcy back at the tail end of 2019 early 2020ish and they ended up closing allot of locations. Well here in Georgia where I live they are closing the ones with dine in and moving them into strip shops where they only offer carry out service.

Wallie, I do believe a PH Bistro is a FULL-SERVICE restaurant that has a BAR and a LIQUOR LICENSE to sell cocktails and the like (in the same fashion as a full-sized Chili's in most places). Other thing, you have to realize all PH's you have found closed are FULL-SERVICE locations, where you can sit with your family and "have a pie". The CARRY-OUT / DELIVERY / WINGSTOP location are MOSTLY FINE, particularly during the Pandemic. Oh, I have to give you an update on something you should know... My 7788 Kmart (Rexville Town Center in Bayamón, PR) will CLOSE FOR GOOD sometime during next week of February, 2021 (they're THAT kind of empty now) as the Cafeteria closed on 12/20/2020 and the Pharmacy prescriptions have been moved to the nearest Walgreen's about 1/2 mi. NW. It is one of the only 3 Kmarts left in the Island (2-story Plaza La Américas and Montehiedra Outlets, both within the City of San Juan are the only ones left).

Last I checked there's still one on PA Route 8 in Hampton...let's hope I didn't just jinx it there!! Sad to see this one gone; I actually stopped at this one in August 2019. It was pretty slow that day at lunch time; granted, it was probably 2PM, but I had the whole place to myself.

I was curious to see if the older Pizza huts in my hometown were still open, and according to google they are. 😅 Then googling where I live now all the pizza huts in the search were all the small take out ones. 😅 I hardly eat at Pizza Hut or any pizza place anymore, but it’s like they are now like usual pizza places where you can’t dine in. Which is fine by me.

This one had indoor dining, and was closed when they moved away from indoor dining to focus on carry-out/delivery only. While technically it's Poland, no one local really considers this Poland, most think if it as Boardman. This Pizza Hut moved here in the early 2000s from the intersection of South Ave and 224, where the Valvoline is now located. This location was always popular, but entry/exit was a pain.

There is an abandoned Brusters in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. The DQ that also closed as well is relocating to the former Brusters and it will be demolished and a new Dairy Queen will be at the spot of the Former Brusters. The Dairy Queen on East State Street in Hermitage closed 3 months ago. The Brusters in Hermitage closed on September 29, 2019, a little over a year ago.

What a generic building, if you said this was any closed restaurant and I would have believed you. Was actually think at one point during the video did this franchisee move a Pizza Hut into this building. My favorite style of Pizza Hut is the classic red roof with pizza slice windows. BTW, this was Pizza Hut and Wing Street combo according to Google map pictures. Need to start taking more pictures, as so many of these shuttered places in my area are being repurposed due to cheap rent.
