Liked #753, nice video of this abandoned Gwyrth Church in Wales. Nice piloting skills of different bird's eye perspectives and the interior flying, too! Got really close to the bushes! Watched the full video, liked button and comment in appreciation to support the right way, happy to support your channel 😊 Happy new year, take care 😎👍

I too grew up in this area, in Rhyl. I visited Gwrych many times as a child, with family and school chums. Always a magical experience that I still treasure. I was lead to believe that it was constructed by a wealthy industrialist called Mr. Salt. Such a sham to see it in such a condition.So many activities were there, Museums, jousting, boxing etc.

Rhondalove im really hoping that they are going to renovate it, ill go back there when they do and take more video, no problem, glad you enjoyed it, that was my intention when i started doing this, sharing the places around me with as many people as possible, same works both ways, a video of your neighbourhood will be something I have never seen or probably will ever see, all the best, Bongo

+ArialVideo I prefer seeing abandoned places. Fixing it up and making it into a tourist attraction ruins the feeling of being in a place that was untouched for centuries all by yourself.

I just read the book "Murder Is for Keeps" by Elizabeth Duncan, which used Gwrych Castle as the setting for a murder mystery. It's sad to find out that the vandalism of the castle in the 1990s is not fictional.

Magnificent castle. It's a crime that it is being allowed to decay into ruin. Birds and plant roots will get into the joints between rocks and wooden beams and then walls will start to crumble away.

I'd love to own and renovate that castle. I'd restore what I could, and I would NOT modernize it, except for plumbing & electrical, and I'd possibly have to use iron beams to reinforce certain spots, but, I would turn that place into a bed & breakfast, with a coffee shop.
@patriciajrs46 Жыл бұрын
Cool. I like that idea. Repair it, instead of tear it down. I would fix all the roofs, and put timber beams back in the floors between each floor- level. Heavy oak doors. Then, like you, I'd turn it into a hotel/museum, with a place to eat. I would have carriage transport to and from the nearest town. It would be great.

Take out the Vegetation and put a roof on it, is the first thing.
@jflo20234 жыл бұрын
@@farnorthweaver7793 Funding is the first thing, then bureaucracy - even though it's not an original castle it's still grade I protected; planning for these projects can take decades, then the actual work will be a nightmare as the governing bodies oversee that the building is retrofitted with the same style and materials that were used when it was built and the appropriate craftsmen. Bear in mind that most of this 'castle' is facia for show; there is very little viable/profitable real estate for remediation and turning into tourism/event space, so getting any return on your investment may not be possible and most likely why other investors failed.

Good quadcopter (drone?) footage but the Gopro filming is rather poor, you'd do a better job today I'm sure. Is it so important that this private dwelling of the rich (at one time) should have to be saved? I'm not so sure, I can think of several more worthy projects.

Its about time for it to be fully restored and put to good use rather than become a complete ruin play or worse yet a play thing of the super wealthy but to be appreciated by everyone and keep it for future generations.Its part of the heritage of the country that you can not afford to loose.

Please please please - Somebody... probably some rich person or some government - needs to fix up this beautiful castle. Those trees growing close to the walls - will ruin the castle with its roots. - Don't let the heritage of the European people die.... That's so wrong that it got to this point. ETA: Tip - For cement floors in between the levels... see houses made in the Caribbean countries... They figured out a way to do it.

It has now been bought by the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust. www.gwrychcastle.co.uk/index.php/2018/06/08/saved-for-the-nation-a-fairytale-welsh-castle-once-destined-for-royalty/ I knew Dr. Mark Baker back in the early 2000s, and we didn't get on all that well. But can't deny that he, along with his GCPT, have done a fantastic job over the years in trying to preserve the castle. Having been there a few times, it is such a beautiful building and it is a huge shame what has happened to it. I hope their plans to renovate the castle are successful.
