Driving through the country side one early morning and i pass this long row of trees that had a drive way going through it, so i told myself... i gotta drive down this and record it. at the end of the drive way there was a decent sized house, appeared to be abandoned with an older ford f150 out back being taken over by mother nature. the front of the house is what really caught my attention. i parked and explored on foot. this place was huge, finished attic, and a basement! 4 stories! but nothing compared to the stories of went down at this place back in the day. almost every room inside has a fire place, old style kitchen but industrial looking. the basement was grim, pitch black n smelled foul. i didnt have a flash light so that made the explore much more exciting. all i had was a dying cell phone to provide a tiny bit of light. enjoy and thanks for watching!

A guy by the name of Hans Grogen lived there from 1854 until 1948. He grew tobacco and cranberries of all things. He served in the confederate army under Gen Simon B Buckner during the Civil war. He was captured at New Creek WV a small skirmish that took place there. He was imprisoned in Chicago. He escaped that prison by broke his leg in several places.After the war, he tried to return to farming but his leg never healed right. In 1866 he married Mila Swarrigen, and when she gave birth in 1868 to what he believed was his brother's baby, he killed both Mila and his son, and hid the bodies in the attack of this house. Authorities did catch up with him a few days latter and came to arrest him, he shot himself in the head on the porch of this house. Mila Grogen and baby were buried on this property, with a small stone marker. I have been told the markers were swept away in a flood from 1985. So that's the history of it

I’m no expert either but, by simply looking at the bone structure and it’s size it does actually look like a dog. The tail is long but isn’t that of a raccoon or skunks. The amount of fur also indicates this animal was hairy and from the looks of it brown. Also by paying attention to the skull, although from the close up angle those ears appear pointed like a pigs, from other angles look like a dog’s ear. The teeth that are intact are all carnassial so my only guess is this was either a coyote or a feral dog that chose to find a quite place to pass. Many animals go into hiding when they know their time is coming to an end.

There are numerous reasons why a property may be left to waste like foreclosure, death, financial distress, mold, structural/safety issues, etc. It doesn't mean its an "idiot property owner", most property owners don't just let a home rot away for the hell of it.
@rebeccahopkins9522
@rebeccahopkins9522 4 жыл бұрын
Pj Barnes could be that everyone is dead and there is no one to live in the house, or foreclosure, or unable to be sold due to mold and/or structure damage or property dispute, seized for property or unpaid taxes, or the owner lives in a nursing facility etc. When there are no next of kin, the property goes to the state you know; and when the state owns a property, it costs money to bulldoze so they could just be letting it rot into the earth. A lot of states’ do that instead of spending money on it. It’s a shame cause this could be a really beautiful house if restored. Like REALLY beautiful. It reminds me a lot of the house I grew up in. A 150 year old Spanish colonial with 4 fireplaces, 2 balconies, a secret staircase that led up to the old servants quarters, a double-stair front porch, columns, 5 doors that led to the outside (two of them at the front of the house like this house) and lot and lots of space. And lots and lots of creepy shit going down. Sounds of someone walking in the attic and on the main stairs. Shit moving and falling in that house right in front of you. Doors that opened and shut on their own. And once I even caught a strange inhuman sounding growl on my tape recorded. Despite that I loved that house. I had 3 cats and a dog and they were with me at all times and slept with me every night cause they were the only thing that made me feel safe in that creepy house. And yes they would meow and bark at the ceiling and at seemingly nothing 🤣 As an only child, I had a bedroom with my own balcony and fireplace. Sometimes I Still dream of that house, going through the halls and sitting at the picture window like when I was a child. When my parents got divorced, it got sold. But it looked a lot like this house, except fixed up of course.

Khetman of the Zaporozhyan Cossack Host maybe if you were foolish and hired it all done by rip off contractors it mite cost you 100,000 to fix it up lol. as a contractor for many years I can tell you for 775,000 dollars I can build you a house bigger than this brand new from digging the foundation all the way up to the roof turn key ready to move into. how many you want built? you must live in California or new York city to come up with that kind of a price lol . I worked construction most of my life now 62 years old I bet you I can make that house look new again under 20,000 in materials and do the work myself . or I could get a honest contractor to do it all for around 30,000. I will find out for sure if the guy who did the video reply's with the address of this house if its for sale and not too over priced I am going to buy it. I am in TN 60 mikes out of Nashville and bentwood near Nashville is where all the snooty rich folks live you can buy a new home as big as that for around 300,000 -400,000 and that's brand new turn key move in ready in Brentwood the highest real estate market in the state of TN . I know this because I built a lot of them and subcontracted a lot of them out over the years . there are lots of tip off guys out there but there are also lots of hones ones .20,000 in materials would make that house look new again and about 10,000 in labor from a honest contractor . as far as the period correct furniture unless you wanted to show it and sell tickets or something to walk through and tour it why would you want to pay dearly for uncomfortable out dated furniture when you can buy new comfortable furniture for a fraction of the cost of the old stuff?

A place where Mother's were separated from their children, Husbands separated from wives... Whole families torn apart in the name of money. That place holds the pain of an untold amount of people who were treated worse than livestock and worked until they died, with no say in the matter. Question: In the basement, the windows have bars and then we see a heavy door with various locks on it that leads to a creepy bathroom and a weird dark room with something like a decaying bed or wooden box with what looks like human clothing on it, a huge bone (could it be human?) and the rotting body of a dog ...! I would have like to see better with a little more light, a little more filming of it and a wider view, at the end, of the room. Somebody can give an explanation or maybe have a theory about that? To me, from what I see, it looks like a place where people could have been kept captive.... Oh!

People who explore abandoned building alone are taking a lot of risks especially if they don't have a good light (two is better in case one breaks), and safety shoes so if they step on something sharp it doesn't go through their shoe into their foot. Also, mold especially black mold is really nasty to breathe in the spores of. A Good respirator should be worn at all times. Inhaling mold spores can lead to severe respiratory illness and most doctors will NOT check for mold inhalation unless you tell them you were exposed to mold. Mildew can be bad for you too. Was that a dead animal in the basement? If so then there could be Anthrax spores down there too. Exploring alone is super risky. What would you do if you fell or injured yourself and your phone died or fell out of reach? Who knows you are there?

Wish I knew what state this was in so I could consider the historical reference. Looks to be late 1800- early 1900, with a 70's remodel in the kitchen, bathrooms and that weird paneled room with the odd fireplace in it. The attic is finished because they were back in that time; that's where the servants stayed. This is a really cool old house that was pretty expensive to build and maintain. I wonder what impact the original family had on the local history. Thanks for sharing. I like your style.
