Remember traveling from Dunedin, midday departure, smokey carriages in the tunnels, arriving Christchurch 6.00pmish, refreshments at the railway station, back on train, through the tunnel on to the wharf at Lyttleton and on to the ferry to Wellington. 10 hr wait in Wellington then overnight train to Hamilton - better than 12 hour Road Services bus.

Great video! You and gunner nz must be my two favorite youtubers based in New Zealand, (on earth because New Zealand is arguably the best country.)

@@NZRT5068 That means it'll get lots of use if Rolleston and Woolston are anything to go by. That's good to hear.

I would keep the train track in railworthy condition. Make use of tourist attraction and transportation for daily use. If you positive about this. Then there is a future. Regards 🇿🇦.

What was this line originally used for? I have noticed that there have been major pullbacks in rail usage over the past few years.

Oil. There used to be a tanker wagon parked on one of those lines back in the late 90's/early 2000's.
