North of London’s Kings Cross Station, a once redundant 67 acre industrial zone is gradually being transformed into a whole new district, with homes, offices, shops, galleries, bars and restaurants, schools and university buildings.

Excellent research and collection of images. Railways were the driving force of the industrial revolution and opened territories to commerce and travel.

The widened lines was a favourite haunt of mine in the 1960s catching a train from Moorgate up to KX platform 16 The widened lines or the York Road line to it was also know as the drain. There is a video on youtube where people walk from KX down the York way tunnel till it meets the Thameslink service. I knew the line split and one diverged West to join the Met but it closed sometime in the 18thr century. In the video you can see the diverge shortly after leaving KX. I would love to explore it. I also wonder how far you can walk up the hotel curve tunnel towards platform 16

Fascinating railway (and canal) history, which I thoroughly enjoyed. And just a note re several of your captions - there's no 'p' in Camden

I'm really enjoying these films, and you clearly have an interest in the time sequences on the locations. I would love to see each still held for a few more seconds, and maybe some commentary too? BTW your guitar skills have really come on since your first video😅

Whato, First, it's Camden not Campden. Secondly, the water tower had nothing to do with King's Cross. Its original location was at St Pancras for the Midland Railway and has been re-sited.

Very interesting. I loved the widened lines You may not know this but on the York Road tunnel when it drops down to the widened lines there was a junction and the l😮ine diverged right to join the Met heading West. It was only used for a short period There is a video where they walk the yorkroad tunnel and at 2.51 seconds you can see where the line splits to form two tunnels kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIGsaXuqbK99j5Ysi=CW8w7X91Ash9NTn8

Prepare to be somewhat miffed. There's an awful lot of gentrification and building of Techies' tower blocks so it's now unlikely that you'll get coal dust back on your carpet. You'll most likely suffer from the wind vortices these towers have unthinkingly produced.
