Brings back memories of going to the scrapyard with my dad. No health and Safety BS. Imagine if you will a small disabled kid walking on two sticks being allowed to roam freely round with cars stacked high swaying in the wind. I was that kid and I lived to tell the tale. We’d always go to the chippy afterwards, good times.

I had a one like that, which just closed down last year sadly, yards like that are becoming very rare now sadly. Shame you couldn't have gone further in, but as you say, you don't want to over stay your welcome. Very surprised that there was a mk2 escort! id have thought that would have been bailed some years ago, But then again, things as old as that, may have been in the yard for well over 30 years and just left, and the newer stuff has basically hidden it. Also another yard me and my mate used to go to, had the common cars, like 8 years to 10 at the time, maybe the odd newer car in. They used to put the much older stuff up the top of the hill. We spent more time up there, than we did getting the parts for our cars, We were always amazed to see what had been brought in, some right old rare bits of kit, two Austin princesses , the cans were worth a few quid, i later found out, i could have sold those, me and my mate missed a trick there sadly. They crushed them practically intact too, i do also remember a cortina Mk4 saloon in, mind that was rotten as a pear. We had a sniff around it, and pushed down on the rear of it, and the backend just collapsed. Not sure if the shell had split in half or the chassis connecting the rear axle just gave way, it was that rotten. Looked like it was a possible restore project that was far to gone to save sadly. It was like buying a round of drinks at that yard, what you got all together lads ? some of it was 30 quid onwards, he used to look and say just giz a tenner.

Remarkable finds. 12 30, a Talbot Sunbeam ? Rare and in great demand by the rally people. The BMW at 15.20, unreal, how many are left on the Road ? 4?5? Could have cried when I saw the state of the 2.8 made even worse with a cactus car dumped on top.... :-) Great explore, many thanks!

That scrapyard takes me back. With the age of the cars where you went in, it’s like a scrapyard from the 90’s, when me and my mate were finding parts for our first cars, to repair or upgrade bits 😊 Kills me seeing all those poor Minis 😢

God damn there’s some historical cars here, I’d say a lot could still have usable parts/panels. There’s definitely a lot of glass that could be salvaged. If that was BX Turbo they’re so rare !!! Thanks for your hard work and showing us 👍🏼👊🏼👊🏼

I enjoyed the Range Rover/Discovery collection yesterday Stu, people still collect the early Range Rovers, and a lot of the 3.5/3.9 SE’s and the 4.2 LSE’s are very much a commodity - people use them for special occasions and holidays - and another one you want to look out for The Range Rover 3.9 and 4.2 Vanden Plas (they were Japan only) these are worth checking out.
