Abandoned shopping mall - scary dark corridors- on my own and risky

I lived in Campbelltown in 2010 (left in 2017) and remember this centre quite well. I visited a few times, for the clearance shops, but it never had the number of shops to get customers in, so, of course, no one else wanted to come in. It's in a terrible location, too far to walk from Campbelltown station and CBD for most people, meaning you had to drive in. I know in the subsequent years council floated various ideas of what to do with the centre, and it's shame it's still an eyesore in 2022. Similarly the Pano Centre, which wasn't a shopping centre, was supposed to open at around the same time, and it too went bankrupt and as of 2017 nothing had been done with it.

Yes absolutely, I mentioned at the end of this video it was the wrong end of town , I grew up in Campbelltown myself and know the area rather well . I did go to the pano building to do a video of that place but came across some undesirables ( squatters I believe) and they booted me out after a nasty confrontation , I would like to return and reattempt that building but I don’t want to be in a place I’m not wanted , safety first , so maybe I’ll have to skip that building , although some others have been successful so atleast people can view the insides on other channels . Didn't the developers do their research on the problems associated with location? Think of all the resources invested for nothing when the site could have been used for an apartment complex that would have helped with the rental crisis of today.

Thinkingallowed - I guess they would have done research but got it somewhat wrong , the other punishing problem at the time I should have mentioned in my video was the GFC hit right as they opened , stock markets crashed , investors and investments disappeared. The economic fallout of the GFC placed a Coffin in front of this Place from the get go.

It Went bankrupt due to lack of shoppers , opening as the GFC hit , no one was spending money , plus wrong end of town . No one goes shopping to that end of town

There probably wasn't the demand for a mall in that area which is likely why it didn't succeed. $65 000 000 equates to a small mall here in Australia.

I am a new subscriber and wow I am shocked at the state of the inside it does look very ominous and creepy in some parts would have been a great place in its prime. It could have been re purposed if it hadn’t been so badly trashed.

However the place could still possibly work quite well as an office complex because of it’s layout and onsite parking so it still could be sold to another developer who could convert the structure into offices with leasable office spaces! However such a conversion would at least require the entire interior of the structure to be stripped down and rebuilt so all of the vandalism damage and mould can be cleared out of the base concrete shell! :)

Hi Techno-Universal , There’s already plans approved for demolition and apartment blocks to be constructed. I don’t think office space would be successful there tbh , Campbelltown doesn’t have that high of a demand for huge office space such as this building could offer. Thanks for watching .

They’ve put in apartments across the road several years ago , would make more sense to have people living there rather than shopping , seems people buy apartments anywhere there built so should be a success .

@@exploringsydneyandbeyond9059 Of course they could also possibly also have retail spaces for shops and restaurants on the ground/first floors of the apartment high rises which would probably make much more sense as those businesses could get a lot of patronage from the residents of those buildings! :)

It’s a matter of finding a way in , not always possible, I’ve been to places many times and not able to get in and no video was produced , some places I’ve been 6-8 times , if a hole is present great, If not I walk away. Thanks for watching .
