Abandoned Sonic - Statesville, NC. In this video, I take a quick look at this older location that closed in 2020. Stopped in time is what I would say about this one despite only being closed for 3 years.

We have a sonic here near Charleston SC that actually still has an active indoor dining room. The place was an old Burger King that got converted to a sonic years ago.

All the ones here in western part of SC, and over the border in GA have never had a dining room, just stalls, or outdoor patio, and have been around for a very long time, so gonna have to look that one up next time I'm out that way to see family.

@@CommodoreFan64 it’s right off the interstate on college park Rd. If you’re going towards Charleston and get off on college park hang a left and it’s about a mile down on the right.

The Sonic closed because it was badly located for Interstate travelers. Also, the intersection of I-40 and US 21 was severely disrupted for years by new construction, widening I-40 and a brand new overpass and ramps onto US 21,

Ya always need a good location, the one where I live is on the main drag that goes through town.

Didn't look like this one was too centrally located, don't think it was close enough to the highway for people to see, that might've been the problem possibly.

I live semi close to there, and it's been closed for a lot longer. It used to have a closed for remodel sign for at least 4 or 5 years.

Usually Sonic restaurants don't have indoor dining areas. They only have drive up order screens to place your order and you have to wait for the employees to come out and delivery your meal to your vehicle.

That's May and June in the Carolinas -- mild and rainy. Then comes July and August with the heat. It's nice here, generally. But we do have the occasional tornado. Hurricanes have been known to reach inland for more than 300 miles. And we sometimes get ice storms in the winter with dangerous driving and electrical disruptions from ice-laden power lines.

WallieB26, really enjoyed your awesome abandoned Sonic video! The one in OKC in Bricktown is only dine in and they have seating outside. My oldest brother used to have a condo there in Bricktown and we'd walk to Sonic. That's really a cool looking abandoned Sonic! Can't wait till your next awesome abandoned video! YOU ROCK!!!!

I’m in East TN. Never seen a sonic with a dinning room. They closed most of the locations near me about 10 years ago and now they are bringing new locations back and most people are very unhappy with them.

I live in Statesville, it went out of business during covid, they were doing renovations when covid hit and couldnt afford to keep going

Sonic just opened in Albany, NY, I believe it has an indoor dining room. Sonic in Kingston, NY has closed over five years ago. Never tried them.

That's an unusual Sonic. I've seen them with the "patio" area extended and/or closed in with like 4 to 8 tables or booths in them but I've never ever seen one like this.

The Sonic in Athens OH actually used to be a Rax. They didn't even change most of the signage or the building, they just slapped the Sonic sign and a couple neon bulbs and called it a day. (They even left the 'Restaurants' sign up!) Sadly it's been razed and replaced with those tall Sonics you see nowadays.

I live close to here and it has been closed longer than 3 years it was opened on day and the next the put up a closed for remodel and never reopened it became a place where the local homeless would stay

I’m 42 and here in my small town of Mayberry. We use to have a Sonic that was open since I can remember at 13 years old. They closed 5 years ago. They never had a dinning room and this was the first one I’ve seen in my life. I’ve ate at two others and no dinning rooms either. This was a needle in a haystack or a unicorn lol

I used to go to Sonic in Mo when I was little and one time we were at the place I had to go to the bathroom and I couldn't hold it in and it came out like crazy and my mom was very mad at me for doing that in her van.

While I like Sonic especially that Breakfast Burrito with Tots and a large Cherry Limeade is the bomb but Sonic here in Beckley, we got one in early 2021 after it took over the abandoned Bojangles in town and it was popular for a while like the line would be in the street and now it's like barely 10 cars now because they keep getting orders wrong. Like holy crap, many times we would get that Burrito and two things, it would be packed with like 80% eggs or they just give you the wrong thing. We stopped going there, the last time I had Sonic when I was in hospital recovering after a infected appendix. But we're getting a Chipotle and our Long John Silvers is getting rebuilt into a better one and probably adding a drive-thru.

A lot of the Sonic restaurants in NJ have shut down (Tinton Falls, Totowa, Waretown, Phillipsburg Mall, etc.). The Sonic in Greenbrook, which is still open - does have some tables inside.

I've never seen a Sonic Drive-In with a dining room before. I didn't even know that there are Sonics with dining rooms. If my local Sonic had a dining room, I'd totally want to eat inside and stay cool during a hot summer day.

If i'm not mistaken the parking lot here was used as a makeshift drive through Covid testing facility. I got a Covid test there in 2020.

There was a Sonic located on East 11,Mile Road and South Washington Ave. In Downtown Royal Oak,after when Sonic has closed permanently and the old Sonic is now a Chipotle Mexican Grill which is still open for business to this very day.

wait, I recognize that Sonic - that's not an "older" site. That was probably built @2008-2010. We went there multiple times when we lived nearby. That's on a busy road & in a busy shopping area. I'm shocked to see it's closed. It's really not that old of a site. I wonder what killed it? Sonics in this general area of Western NC/Piedmont/Triad usually do well. This is strange.

Also there was a Longhorn Steakhouse I think, right beside it. It shut down and was gone within weeks. They tore it down and built another urgent care 😂

I've never seen one with a diner.ive heard about the drive-thru but haven't seen them neither.people thought when they remodeled the one here it was thought they'd put the drive-thru here.i miss the days when you could get the onion rings as the side in the meal.

Sonics to my knowledge typically don't have dining rooms, most are drive-in/thru and outdoor dining only. There was another dine-in Sonic in Mayfield Heights, Ohio though. It closed around the same time as this one and has since been converted into a Starbucks. It was in an old KFC.

Sonic didn't always have breakfast food, I think they added it sometime in the early 2000's. Also,that's the only Sonic I've ever seen with a dining room and we have quite a few stores here in Missouri.

Thats exactly how ours here is made but no inside u have to eat on that small deck ours has thoes old boards too it sucks..ive never seen a sonic with i dining room either i thought they were strictly n outside place we need that one here dam but its funny it looks just like ours the building anyway and the windows are exact.. except the ones on the right where the eat in part is but the front is identical..its a wonder they didnt put the eat in part on ours hummm..i dont really care for there burgers either gives me heartburn..😅

In Illinois in my area had 3 sonics only 1 sonic still running one sonic was in a bad location the other I don’t know why
