Well, considering how Texas was a part of Mexico long before it was ever a part of the U.S..... Also, I'm guessing that the type of Mexican food it serves is super shitty faux "Mexican" crap that one would post on the "Mexicans mad at food" group on Facebook. FYI, I'm a native Texan from a family originally from Mexico and I've never even heard of Lone Star Steakhouse and feel like the only places to get halfway decent Mexican food in the U.S. are west of the Mississippi and as close to the original boundaries for Mexico just after they won the war for independence from Spain as possible, meaning I'm definitely eating at a Mexican restaurant in Denver but never at one in Baltimore.

@@ladyi7609 'Authentic' is one thing; 'good' is another. The worst pizza I ever had was in Italy. And normally I say pizza is like sex; even when it's bad it's still pretty good. But this was downright gross, and I'm pretty sure anyone including Italians would agree if they tasted it compared to Dominos or Papa John's, if they were blindfolded and didn't have confirmation bias to rely on. And saying you know "real" _____ food because blah blah blah is cliche and tedious. It might get you 4 likes in a KZbin comment, but it's going to get you eye-rolls when you're not looking in real life, if you take the opportunity every time the topic comes up, because people have already heard it repeatedly. I hope you are proud of other aspects of your Mexican heritage because you should be; it's an awesome culture.

Having worked in the restaurant industry, I was quite shocked to see the amount of stainless equipment, refrigeration equipment, not to mention a complete dishwasher, left in the building. As another viewers commented, usually this type of equipment would either be warehoused for use in other locations as a cost saving measure; or they would have a salvaging company come in and dismantle the equipment for sale at auction. This would permit the company to recoup at least some of their investment in that location. In my opinion, especially given the way things appear to have been left, I suspect some that some form of serious health hazard existed; precluding proper disposal of the restaurants' equipment and fixtures. I would like to suggest To the videographers who shot the footage in this building that you keep a close watch on your general health for the next few weeks, and seek immediate medical attention if you notice any changes in your health. I would suggest that in the future you consider some form of protective equipment whenever you enter any type of establishment where foodstuffs may have been left behind. At a minimum you should don respirators and gloves so that you prevent contact with contaminants. The fact that you were able to still smell what was obvious putrefaction emanating from items left behind in both the walk-in boxes and low-boys means that there was potentially dangerous bacteria present; putting you at risk for exposure to these toxins which have the potential to be life threatening.

It's very odd to see that much kitchen equipment left behind. Usually, they will broker it out to an auction house and reap some of the cost. This is sad I know a lot of organizations that could have benefited from the items left behind. Great post!

*Kevin Linville* Some states won't allow a business to install used kitchen equipment, not even sinks. Some friends of mine opened an games arcade and wanted to sell snacks and hot sandwiches that come in packages, ready to heat, but they had to stick to the kind of things sold in vending machines because they couldn't afford new stainless steel fixtures.

My workplace would have likely done the same if my team's leader (specifically my team's leader, not a manager or the gm) hadn't coordinated a donation pickup after everything had been transferred. They've worked with a lot of homeless in the past and so immediately saw the opportunity. Feels like a lot of places just don't think about it when they're closing.

Many business owners can be totally lame when it comes to donating. I use to volunteer at an animal shelter near a Dunkin’. For a long time the shelter would take clean reusable plastic containers over and Dunkin’ donated the day old donuts to the shelter for the volunteers to pick up in the morning. I loved this and it actually made me go buy drinks and sandwiches from the Dunkin’. BUT, suddenly when the owner found out about this, he put a stop to it and made the employees throw away the daily leftover donuts. 😞 I never went to the Dunkin’ location again and it’s now out of business. 😁

You’d think there’d be more regulations on closing buildings. This place seems like an obvious fire hazard.
@NorthAndre
@NorthAndre 5 жыл бұрын
From experience, regulations are left up to the local government. Cities with resources and capabilities will have vacant building registrations in lieu of annual inspections after closure. It means the exterior is still inspected for open doors and hazards more frequently and violations can be written if the property becomes dilapidated and unsafe.

@@Maniac4Bricks In college a friend and I found a huge victorian old as fuck house in the middle of the ghetto part of town. Not completely unsalvagable if you're wealthy but you could definitely tell either runaways or partying teens took up residence fairly regularly. It sat unoccupied/untouched for at least 20 years. We may have taken a really cool oil painting that was still hanging. it was literally one of the only things left (minus shit belonging to teens ^) But usually I do respect abandoned places and leave things as they are. But that painted is awesome and the painter in me wanted to preserve it.

The one that closed up the road from my place went two weeks after it closed before someone smashed out a side window and it became a make-shift sqatter camp. It stayed that way for about 6 months, then they buldozed it and put a nice strip mall over that spot. Food was overpriced and wasn't that great there ever. Plus....we have Texas Roadhouse nearby . Thanks for taking us along on this adventure!
