I canoed the whole Suwanee river from the Okefenokee in GA down to Branford, a 7-8 day journey. Camping on the bluffs at the rapids ("shoals") I had a bout of insomnia and ended up watching in amazement as a huge fireball soared across the sky way off in the distance on the far side of the river. Even at that great distance, which must have been at least a few miles, the fireball was as large as a full moon in comparison. We visited the ruins of one of the old spa resorts like this one (maybe the same one, it was in 1972 so the memory is a bit hazy), and White Springs definitely. Gornto Springs is named after some of my ancestors.

My husband's grandmother's house was not far from the spring. She was in charge of renting the cabins and ran the bath house in the '50s and 60s. My husband's family lived in Canada at the time and when they came to visit they stayed in one of the cabins. I have a couple of photos of him as a little boy standing on the steps of the bathhouse and them swimming in the spring. If you had been there when the river was low you could have seen the clean water of the spring. Thank you for the video and the information.

It's sad to let the History die.

Were you up around the Stephen Foster State park? My future wife and I camped up there many years back and remember goin up around, close to where the ruins were. Nice memories.
