Forty six years ago on a Sunday morning a fire spread rapidly and killed ten employees. I worked for Younkers at their warehouse. A friend of mine who did maintenance at all of their Des Moines stores was one of them who died. The only positive is it happened before the store opened or it's likely the death toll would have been much higher.
